LOL @ "event fillers", which is definitely me when it comes to 12th Worlds

I've only raced 12th on tarmac twice, and both where at WCs. Florida in 2004 was my third meeting with modern 12th cars. And Bangkok was just a great holiday and a meeting I have very fond memories of regardless of the result.

Hoping there are strong bids and ROAR can host an exceptional 2014 on-road Worlds. If funds allow after racing at the 20th Snowbirds I'm hoping to be there, regardless of surface.

Any news on bids?

Just the same home advantage as running 1/12th on pavement. We know the off road worlds will be run on dirt because it seems just about everywhere else runs on it, so we have to deal with it.
As I've already said I think they should change the EP OFR Rules to allow other styles of surface. If not astro then at least grass.

Having the original surface of the class banned is just ridiculous in my opinion.

Once a 12th class takes off at an Asphalt track there is no problem here. The issue is simply having people recognise that it's an option. Why doesn't the UK hold the occasional 12th race on asphalt? You must have plenty of suitable tracks with the TC racing you do. UK racers wouldn't be at a disadvantage if they knew what to expect.

Looking at the pictures of Horsham from this week's Carpet Nationals, I'd say that's by far the best indoor track I've seen in the US. And it seems they've also got what's really needed for any big event - a dedicated team.

I really hope the next on-road Worlds is in ROAR, I'm sure a lot will be learnt at the off-road worlds they have later this year.

I say run the paved portion at Jackson(same crew as Horsham) and try to arrange getting use of the RAC at Rutgers for the carpet. Might have a connection for the latter

Horsham isn't big enough to house 150 people plus crew needed for Worlds other wise I'm sure they would think about it.

not to mention all of the work that putting a show like that would take. we just did the carpet nats. i don't think we are crazy enough to do the worlds.

thank you guys for the suggestion. we are very proud of both of our facilities.... not to mention, very lucky to have them...

Any updates guys?? Hope someone puts there hands up. Would be a real shame if the US skips it again.

I think a venue has to be chosen a minimum of 12 months earlier. Thats like 2 months away..

There is also a club that races onroad on astroturf. I don't think any of them run TC on rubber. Nobody imports the specialist rubber carpet tyres into Australia. With one exception I can think of in the last decade, all of our 12th and TC Worlds qualifying races have been on asphalt or painted concrete.

Yes, I am well aware this is a poor state of affairs.
No offense, but stating no-one imports specialist carpet tyres into Aus is massively incorrect. There are plenty of shops that stock the Ride rubber tyres, as used in the ETS on carpet. Sorex's and other brands are also readily available as well. That plenty of on-road racers also use them outdoors as well...

I will admit that there is a derth of carpet tracks, although the interest in the AOC shows that there is plenty of appetite here for people to go racing on carpet.

Ok enough is enough!!!! Leisure hours in Joliet il.
This should be the venue hands down. Big enough for everything.
Smooth enough for 12th as well. If the worlds misses us because of "venue" and this place is available.... It will be a shame to the sport. Period

LH would be great.....If they can come up with the 10-12K it requires to put the bond up to cover IFMAR's requirement. Thats the problem it seems as to why most dont want to bid on them.
