When my 3700s were new (a couple of years ago when they where the latest and greatest) my best packs were all peaking at 5500 which was the max capacity, and they discharged not much less.

2 years down the track they are still good packs, not a single dead cell... (ahh the days of reliable cells)

I was using one, sort of a try before you buy. But it blew up lol, so I didn't end up buying it haha...
They are cool though, and gave good results, just not quite up to spec yet I felt, needs a bit more refinement.

When you say it blew up, what was the reason for it?

Also are they still being produced?

reason i ask is cause im looking at purchasing one.

I will be charging & discharging 6 cell packs only.

Updated: well after reading most of this thread people even with small (nothing more) still are loving this charger.

The external output blew up from just running a motor. Then the charger wouldn't work properly afterwards. However it was sent back and replaced free of charge no questions asked which is good.

after 2.5 months I've turn my Ib4200 Cells back to life with BATMAN+ICC combo ...
This combination is the worlds most advanced way to maintain and charge the Cells
so you can't go wrong with any spintec product!!!

I think that Spintec is useless. Modellers who need from NiMH and NiCd cells the highest power don't use charge or discharge cells separately. Spintec can't LiPo, LiFe.. In the future may will, but without integrated ballancer.

Todays charges can charge every type cell with balancing for LiPo, Life... For example firm Schulze - Next generation. We can monitoring every cell in the battery pack. Air, heli and boat modellers this charge used very well..

Only my opinion...

In all honesty though this charger, the ICC was built for nmih & not lipo. The charger you speak of is a decent charger yes, but it is a different charger & is is not designed to charge each cell ie ICC.

So this alone should really make up my mind to buy the ICC or not...hmm.

I have no use for lipo, not this year anyway.

I agree with SH. The ICC needs to continue to improve, and Lipo is definitely a bonus, but i believe it is one of the finest chargers out there for NiMH batteries in the side-by-side configuration as the ICC.

Per single charge, the ICC function is not worth mentioning. Other chargers do at least as well. However, in terms of making sure old cells perform their best, the ICC does a better job than others chargers.

Because ICC will not overcharge any particular cell, it will not damage old battery packs that are out of match, therefore, old packs can perform well for a longer period of time.

For the person like myself, who cannot afford the latest greatest matched packs, this charger has kept my old cells running great!

Any one else do a stupid thing like I did? I put the pack in backwards! Now it wont save the settings and it keeps false peaking cell #4. Is there any where in the USA to have this fixed?

Your best bet would be to contact SPINTEC directly. I would try to re-install the firmware & see how you go from there.

I received mine last week it is hardware version 1.5. I had an old GP3300 pack that would have to be untouched for a few years, i discovered it had a dead cell on the ICC so i replaced it with another cell & all i can say is WOW.

TOP product.

Default spintec charger

I had one of these and was thrilled to get rid of it. To anyone looking at purchasing one of these for $300+ dollars, do yourself a favor and don't. Spintec has been promising the lipo update for over a year, who thinks it will happen?

Aside from the questionable design (never use a solder joint as a stress point, don't have a heat sink/transformer that heats up one side of the charger and throws the temp readings off, always put overload protection on the motor run output so it doesn't blow, etc, etc, etc), and complete lack of updates (which is the 2nd biggest selling point of this charger,) this is an average charger which is hampered by its design flaws.

For those who say it brought their cells back to life, I have a suggestion:
buy 2 lipo batteries ($180) and 1 ice charger ($120) and for the same money spent as on the spintec, you will have a more durable, better charger, and better batteries. Lipo might not be quite as fast as 4600 nimh batteries, but it is definately equal or superior to high level 3300/3700 nimh batteries.

If you are racing 5 cells in europe, get yourself an ice charger or one of its clones for 1/2 the price.

I personally think your better off with a stand alone lipo charger, lipo are much better off with a balance type charger.
