Match Dates On Cells
I would like to know what racers think of having match dates on cells.
I think if this happens it can be great for the consumers . We do pay for the cells to be matched and hope they are that way whenever we get them. In my opinion, the longer cell sit before we use them, the more they become unmatch as they would with normal use.

Thats a good idea I think. My LHS is notorious for not offering very much support at all unless you drive Traxxas stuff. (Even though they have a track no one from the shop even goes outside to it. The racers do all of the maintenance. One of the racers even supplies the timing system...if he is busy one weekend, we dont race.
Anyway, back to the point of the post....I was in there a few weeks ago and thought about looking to see if they had any batteries worth it.
The only pack that wasnt B&T......SMC's that were 89.99 for 1.12 at 30A.
No telling how long they had been there either but I am sure with those numbers it had been awhile.

drew i would have to agree that they do fall off but very little compared to if they are built and then stored. i recently found a pack that i had for 2 years and built it and it seemed fine after one use. but if i take a pack and let it sit for a month they never seem to come back

Excellent idea!!!!!!!! To tell you the truth I always try to buy my cells from a popular company like promatch ( the source) rather then a hobby shop...... You never know just how long those cells have been sitting there. And to honest if I'm paying top dollar for my matched cells I WANT NEW AS CAN BE..... Now thats from a racers perspective.

Also bad for the people who sell batteries used, they give you the line a week old or only used twice. There my be exceptions to this but there are few!!!! thats just my opinion..... But i would definitly like to see dates of matching on cells!!!!!!

the saying " a sucker is born every day/ minute" came to mind the other day
when i was in a LHS and over heard the workers saying that they would never buy the batteries
on the shelf where they work at, because they were sitting there for about five months ( lower numbered cells ).
In my opinion no one is a sucker in this hobby, just misinformed.
Match Dates on cells would solve that problem. Another concern was that the best packs were all chosen and the rest put on the shelf for sale.
Lets face it, unless you're a sponsored/team driver access to insane cells are not likely to happen. One might also say that for the average local driver, insane cells probably won't make a difference,
but as a consumer knowing what you're getting before you pay for it does make a difference ! This also brings to mind a quote from one of the KOPROPO rep. ''you get what you pay for''...NOT always True...
In conclusion my best advise is ,, BUYER BEWARE !!

so what happens to the packs over an expected date?? i doubt the matcher could afford to take them back... even if he would, im sure they would be rematched and re labled anyhow.. there is a way around anything.... buy from a trusted matcher... and you will never be screwed.. batteries is one thing i buy direct... or from one place i know sells a ton.... so the stock is current...

As long as the cells are not cycled, they don't really loose performance. Just a few months ago Birdman found some 2000's that were hidden away for some time. We threw them on the matcher, and low and behold the numbers were the same as when they were originally matched a year or so before.
You would be surprised how much better our batts are these days. Back then good 2000's at 20 amps were like 1.15-1.16.
Now we have 1.17 as the norm with 1.18-1.19 out there. And so much longer runtime that with a GP3300 at 20 amps the actual voltage on the pack being discharged at 20 amps at 5 minutes is higher than a 2000 at 2 minutes.
Our new batts are incredible.
