its all a joke anymore. if i knew the price was going up 3..4 years ago, I would have bought a 500 to 1K at ~$60/piece.

I'll let the hobby shops, and race clubs foot the bill and just use the house transponders.

Would be nice if somebody had a decoder box that handled most of the transponder systems... along with software that supported the multiple formats in real-time.

that's life.

Why are they so much now? I paid 55 for mine in 2002. They are the same size now as they were then. Electronics usually come down in price after a while. Never go up. It must be that good ol demand and price thing. Or we are all suckers and they cost 5 bucks to make so lots o money is made.

from 2006 BRCA are saying you have to run one in offroad over here....there is a rumour than in onroar you will have to run one to but that is just a rumour.

but BRCA/AMB have said if you DO have to run it then there will be some sort of deal going on so you get it cheaper

Not a ROAR decision...Its up to the individual tracks...for a track, why shell out the $3000-$4000 dollars for house transponders only to have them get damaged (another $100 to replace) when that cost can be pushed onto the racers....

This is one of the few things that ROAR has very little control over, so that means they cannot muck it up

The price increase was for the US only....Its becasue of the value of the american dollar compared to the Euro (or where ever they are made). Back in 2002 our money was worth about the same but not now. Same reason for the price increase on Xray kits and other foreign cars.

Sucks but you gotta live with it.

I can get them too for anyone for around 92.00 plus shipping. Email at [email protected] if interested.

Very little of what is imported to the US comes from Europe. I think if you look on the back of the transponder it will say China. I do not have one here to look at. The dollar is stronger than the Chinese and Japanese money right now. Thats one reason the import car makers have such a high profit. (other than Europe)
