I've always liked the d3. I've used one with both tekin and speedpassion and it's been very strong. When mine finally let go, I replaced it with a D3.5 which so far doesn't feel that much better. It does like a slightly taller fdr then the d3. I always felt like I had the power edge with my D3 at our home track. As a bonus the D3 is slightly cheaper then the most of the current crop of motors.

YEah I have the same view. Problem is tha 3.5 in now illigal and the D3 not available anymore.... so I'm stuck. X12 is also good, but it does not work with the GT2 pro esc

Has anyone tried the X12 17.5 with the Hobbywing v3?

If the kv ratings of two different motors are more or less the same , does this mean that they are very similar when it comes to torque and performance?

I ran D3 with a HW V2.1, then the VST pro and D3.5 with R10 pro. D3 is not as fast as VST but VST likes less pinion to work. The VST is a really good boosted motor. The new VST2 looks even better. I can't wait for it to come out.

KV ratings are largely meaningless, you'll never hear any racer at the track even mention them.

Performance of a motor is determined by its power curve, which only track or dyno testing will allow you to compare.

Thanks for the info. Just thought they might be more or less the same. It could have made a few things a bit easier for me when changing motors

While a motor's KV rating may not give the whole picture in terms of performance, it certainly measures a valid performance metric. I dont think its coincidence the D3.5 was banned and it has the highest 17.5 KV rating I could find.

Does anyone have some insight into the SchuurSpeed motor's KV rating?

For Boosted application, I would recommend a Murfdogg Synergy. If interested contact Matt Murphy at [email protected] and he can build you one specifically for your needs.

Some of the other racers tried the combo and those motors run
hot compared to other motors . They battle to get the temps under
100 deg C
