12V solder iron?

I have bought one that writes: 40W but nothing.
You have to wait for some min. so as to solder your wires onto the battery.
Anyone knows a good 12V iron 50W+?
Or should i go for one gas powered?

The trickbits iron is 12v 35w but comes with a decent sized tip and is excellent for just about everything you want to do. Built several packs of cells with it and they are all very tidy

Donīt know of the trickbits iron but MRT also have a 12V iron. From what I remember itīs rated at 40W but beside the watts the size of the tip is one thing what is important also. And MRT always have some quality stuff so this should be good also.
At the MRT thread you can find a picture.

i borrowed a gas powered one before. It's cool if you need to like weld and do other things, but for this hobby it's an overkill. But it's cool since it's cordless.

I'll try to attach a Photo.

The black collar on the iron is the on/off switch. Push towards the tip is on. Downside of the quick heat up is if you leave the heat on too long it will melt the tip. You learn after the first time.

Mr Alonso
I think these come from Melbourne, as usual can't find instructions but they have "Warren and Brown" on the label.
12v 30w-180w.

Isn't it a little expensive?

New Zealand $85 = approx US$60 = approx 40 Euros

Don't know how that compares with your local prices for a similar specification item, it's a good buy here, but we are used to paying a little more because it is a small market/country.

All spare parts are available to keep it in top condition, see above for one reason for needing spares.

Cheers Peter

I use a Portasol butane powered iron. It hasn't let me down yet.
