I just got back from running at the local velodrome and I was able to break the track record by 4 secs! I was able to hit speeds of 70 MPH (lap average)on a four cell pack! Great work to all the guys at checkpoint motors, keep it up.

Just got back from my first race with my Checkpoint 7x1. Ran carpet foam touring car at the Trackside pre sizzler race. Stock out of the box 7x1 wich I changed the pos spring to a silver.. stock 12 degree timing. Ran it all through practice and the first heat with no loss in power. I pulled it down after the heat... looked good yet... I skimmed the comm and ran the other two heats and the A... still looks nice I was very happy with the way it held up.
Now as for power... well the DC boys (Jucha and McGeevy) could pull me on the straight but it was as fast or faster than the others. I know McGreevy had a Ti 8x1 but he was running better packs than I was... maybe that was the difference? All in all I am happy with the motor

Just got delivered one of the Checkpoint motors, will have a try of it this weekend, it sure looks interesting i hope it goes as well as it looks.

Do you gear them like a Ti, Cobalt, or V2? ie are they torque or RPM based, i have an 8Single Onroad.

We're working away at our motors at present too, and it's looking good.

I'm not convinced they give any more power than a really good motor from any of the other top brands but -------

CONVENTIONAL MOTORS. For an average race meeting or test session I will need a load of motors, commlathe, brushes and lots of time. Every 5 minute session costs a pair of brushes and a skim. Not funny.

CHECKPOINT. I am now on my 12th run with the same brushes. Have skimmed twice, and the motor seems to go faster every run, not slower.

The only reason I have to wait between runs is to let the motor cool down. No more skimming, messing and being antisocial. Now I have time to talk to people in between races.

Oh, and we are doing the same lap times with Checkpoints that we have been doing with our conventional race motors.

The hobby is suddenly looking better again.

Re Checkpoint motors:
The big downer is having to buy brushes and the cost (approx £10 in UK) !!!

Whereas:
Brushless = brush-less = no brushes = no cost for brushes

Apologies Joe I just couldn't resist it
I posted something similar on a UK forum too.

Carry on the discussion folks...

Just got home from running the Sizzler today. The Checkpoint 7x1 was equal if not faster than any motor in the mod class today... car set up was holding it back... only qualified 5th but power wasn't a problem. I ran it all day from practice to the A and I only skimmed the com once and I am still on the original brushes... overall I am extremely pleased with this motor

The motors just seem to be getting better and better, my car was a rocket today at the Hitec race, unbelievable torque and top end.

For anyone that might have seen it, my setup was a 7x2, 12 degrees of timing, standard spring on -, silver spring on +, geared 9.52.

well this weekend had the first major race with a checkpoint, and all that i can say is that i am a very happy camper, motor ran hard from start to finish every race, was very efficient, and quite easy to work on, i purchased an 8 single, i just wish i had grabbed a 7 to take advantage of the runtime i had.

I have sent a couple of emails before, regarding distribution to Australia, if Checkpoint is interested in an Australian distributor please PM me to discuss.
