How to tell difference between regular/ceramic bearings?

i think its one of those if you cant notice the difference you should stick with the metal ones.

The only true way to know for sure is to remove at least one of the seals and look at the balls! This can be difficult on smaller bearings though, it is hard to get a good look at the balls and also hard to remove the seals. This is how I found out that the Ceramic bearings I was supposed to have were actually regular bearings, I got a refund and never have given a second thought to buying ceramics again. I guess another way would be to weigh the bearings and compare them to equal size regular bearings of the same size, obviously the ceramic raced bearings should weigh a noticable amount less!

By weight and performance are the 2 obvious ways to tell if they are ceramic or not. The other way is to make usre you by them brand new from a good reputable company such as Acer or Boca. Speedtech and RC4Less also sell ceramic bearings. When you order ceramics for one of the 4 companies I mentioned, you know you are getting ceramics!
