DirtChamp Design T:meR

I've been using my T:meR since I got it for Christmas (present for my mom and me to share believe it or not, lol), but it took me a couple days to get a few things figured out. I noticed there's not much discussion about it, at least in the US so I figured I would start a thread.

So far I'm very pleased. The class 1 bluetooth connection makes it over 100' through 2 walls in a "radio noisy" environment with no problem. I leave my laptop in my pitroom and just bring the tripod out for practice. The laptop reads the laptimes through the computer and I have a set of 900mHz wireless headphones that receives the audio form the computer back through the same 2 walls and over the same 150' of R/C and wireless broadband radio noise (plus I can play my pandora through it and tune out the 16 pitch, poorly meshed SCT rookie nonesense). The only tricky part is positioning the transponder and T:meR properly, but once you find the sweetspot you're done. It makes it nice when the room is so loud you can't hear your times and the computer display removes your times before you can make it over to the screen. Also nice when were racing off-road in the same building and the loop isn't connected to the on-road side. I an actually go out and make a change and hear the results. I bought the droid app to let me just hear the times on my phone and it worked well, but doesn't allow me to keep sessions and store dates with the laptime info. Will be great at traveling races though when the loops off or doesn't read times audibly. I assume the iPhone version works the same or better.

I've seen them advertised through Stormer's and A-main for a while without any stock of anything but transponders. Mine was bought through the www.dirtchampdesign.com web store. They said you had to "translate" some Swedish, but the CS through e-mail was helpful.

Sounds like a great unit but I'm a bit sick of apple.

There are more users of PC so why do brands need to do their apps for apple only? It's like traxxas with their xo-1 apps working with the iphone etc.. Apple isn't an "open" company at all, this unit should work with all the smartphones.

It sounds awesome I won't pull the trigger on one until I hear how it does when you set a race on it. If you ever set it up to work that way please post and let us know
