6 cell = cap

right?

i'm running modified motor btw, if that matters.

see it would take longer to charge a cap with a 4 cell pack rather then a 6 cell pack. unless you have a lot of str8 aways on your track, infield would suck the cap dry and not charge it all the way..... it's almost useless to have a cap if it wont charge all the way.... It's up to you what you want to use. Just giving my opinion

Yeah, I was wondering what he was talking about

Cap will not help much in 1/12th scale. It will most likely hurt performance. Yes, you get more punch at the start of the race, but towards the end with 4-cell it will drain battery and not return the power to to the motor.

All DC motors have inductance (due to coil windings) which is measured in Henrys. By physical nature, all inductors resist sudden changes in current. The capacitor which is measured in Farads is completely opposite, they inherently resist changes in voltage. With the right combination of the two, the speed controller will not see an inductive or capacitive load, but will only appear resistive. This will also make the motors power efficiency (usually rated in % or on a 0 to 1 scale) rating (or power factor) more efficient and make the motor feel "punchier".

Caps imho are even more of use in 4 cell than 6.
They only have to charge up to 4.8 volts, not 7.2 volts, so they charge faster.
But the best reason for using caps. They act as a damper for the cells, dampening out the extremes in current and voltage, thereby reducing the load on the cells which should help them last longer.

sorry but most esc's come with a 10 volt cap. How is charging that half way better

10v is the maximum voltage that it can handle...

Can anybody put the battery in without taking off the shock on their CRC? I also can't run the center brace b/c it won't let the batteries fit in the slots.

I put a couple small washers under the front shock mount ballstud and the battery installs and removes without taking the shock off.

This thread died off. It's to bad, I love looking at peoples 12th setups. Here is a pic of my production Hyperform 12. I don't have any pics with electronics in it yet.
