We run solaris med. tires for club racing, no idea if that will carry over to the nats or not.

Best bet for everyone is to get your ROAR memberships up to date and set your travel plans. As a regular club racer at Horsham, no matter the class or type of car, the competition is always great and the track is top notch!

We've never run 21.5 tc. Not sure who/where they are running this in the country. Hopefully we will hear from roar about classes soon. The request is already in with our recommendations...

21.5 was run at Timezones 2010 Carpet Nats as an exhibition class to see if it would work as the Sportsman's no sponsor class like Amateur at IIC. I guess ROAR felt it would not catch on and did not pursue it.

That mid season intro of 21.5 is the major reason I didn't go to the timezone nats. Changing rules mid season is just costly for us racers. We need some real standards for motor/batt/rules intro -- but let's not discuss that here. Roar has stated they only listen to racers on their own forum.

We've been having nice 17.5 tc turnouts this season at horsham-- multiple weeks of c-mains. I'm confident that 17.5 tc will be one of our big classes.

Thumbs up 1/12th

Any idea if there will be an amateur 12th scale class?

i won't call 17.5 1/12th amateur... but i'd 99% certain a 17.5 1/12th class will be available. i suspect it to be the 2nd largest class (behind 17.5 TC).

all of this assumes 17.5 is the 'stock' class..

So forgive me if this is a stupid line of questioning, but this will be my first ROAR nationals and am looking for some clarification about "sportsman stock" and other class rules. Similar to the above question about "amateur":

- Are you allowed to run both 17.5 and mod of a same chassis at ROAR nationals (ie 17.5 12th and mod 12th), or is that disallowed? The rules seem to state you aren't allowed, but they reference a "sportsman stock" class when doing so, which brings me to my next question...

- Will 17.5 12th be considered "Sportsman Stock"?

- If so, will you be adhering to the rules stated in the 2012 Nationals guidelines, specifically those below:

4. No advertising of RC brands on vehicles, apparel, or other sources permitted.
5. Sportsman drivers may have no other source of compensation either
monetarily or with product. This includes travel, lodging and incentive
programs.
6. Although sponsorship cannot be verified in all situations due to but not
limited by a particular sponsor refusing to notify ROAR of the driver’s status,
should the driver be protested and irrefutable proof is established of
sponsorship for that driver, sanctions will apply either immediately and/or
after Executive Committee review.
