Wonder what happened to my post?!

Just wanted to thank the Horsham and Jackson R/C crew for a great event as well as the ROAR RMT! I had a great time and really enjoyed racing on the track layout and the vinyl/dots. Nice change of pace from the usual US track!!

I also wanted to give major props to Donny Lia and Drew Ellis. Those two battled it out for the 12th stock title at the ROAR Nationals at my track. With some hard work and dedication, they ran awesome in the Mod classes this weekend. Congrats guys on an awesome event!!

I wish we could get more of the talented racers that continue to run the spec classes to move up like these two. Seeing how hard the racers in Europe compete against each other is how they have raised the bar (along with Asia's racers). Hopefully with the ease to get more than competitive equipment to race Mod these days, this will be a new trend that will deepen the field and raise the US levels to the top steps of the podium at a WC.

Awesome race again and thanks to all my family, friends and sponsors that support my love for racing!!!

Nope. Traction would have been higher had they not vacuumed the track prior to the nats

Funny you should mention this, Latif. I was thinking the same thing at certain points throughout the event. The median age has definitely gone up in onroad racing. We see this at the club level as well as on the national stage.

Other than a few names nationally (Andrew Knapp, Andrew Hardman, Mike Gee, Karl Hoffmeister, Robbie Dodge) and locally in NY/NJ/PA/CT (Darren Howard comes to mind from our track) there really isn't the same turnout of new talent in onroad as there was years ago. I hope this is cyclical.

Am I assuming correctly that offroad does not have the same problem?

Part of the problem with the younger drivers is the expense of travel. We are lucky in our are "Chicago" to have a fair amount of younger drivers in onroad. When it's all said and done it about 1200-1500 to travel to a race like this for a adult and kid.
Trust me I had to sit and listen to a 12 year old whin and pout all weekend...

That's great to hear (not the crying part). I see your son's name as well in the standings. I know we at Horsham and Jackson are trying to cultivate more turnout locally and helping out anyone who needs it.

I would agree that travel to national events is cost prohibitive. Having said that I do hope locally we see an uptick this season of new talent.

Our region has as strong a following as any in the country
Having said that
Only 1 driver from our carpet track attended the Nats, Aside from local factory drivers who rarely participate at club events

It is simply too costly to do for most of us

Big thanks to LiveRc for live HD video, so we can at least vicariously participate

And he was a blowout and should have stayed home! Is the outdoor season starting yet...

I did enjoy seeing the old crew from Horsham/Maryland/NY/NJ as well as 5280. It was a long distance to fly but the laughs and stories are well worth it.

Congrats to the competitors, organizers and RMT. It felt like a focused pro program.

Yeah, LiveRC is great. Had the mobile site running on my iPhone all weekend. A few of the guys in the A qual in 1/12 were watching the LiveRC results of the B qual on my iPhone as we were waiting by the drivers' stand. You could see the pace the drivers were on and cross your fingers that your TQ was going to stand.
