Default Psycho TX cells ????

Hmmmm I run 1500 nimh cells in my TX, I've taken ok care of them discharging(by leaving TX on) and charging (at .5amps) and they have grown to about 2000mah, well I discharged them yesterday and forgot about them for 2 hours, leaving the TX on, then last night when I turned it on it still had some juice in then so I left them on for an hour. Hmm now the plot thinkens, They've been charging for 5 and a half hours and they just keep going, there up to over 3000mah and still rising, should I turn then off? there not hot and only slightly warm. Have I blow up my cells? Right now they have more capacity then my 2400 matched packs it's kind of freeking me out. What should I do?

Thanks.

stop it and check the voltage on each cell with a voltimeter.

That sounds ok

Often you can use your charger as a voltimeter, just touch the negative to the negative and positive to the positive and watch the volts.

I would stop charging and put them in your radio and see how they are

When it happened to you did you shut it down or did it stop charging by itself? Just wondering if it would actually shut down by itself at all.

No, I'm using "telepower" cells made by JBRO batteries, Lisle, IL.

Cheers.

I stopped the charging, it was going on for about 2 hrs. I didn't want my batts to die on me. But now the volts seemed to drop to 11v.

What charger are you using?

Keep an eye on the voltage... it should keep going up, untill it starts to peak. it will hold steady for a minute or so..then the voltage will drop by .01 or more. A drop of .01 i would keep charging, .03 i would stop.

I charge my TX pack at one amp, and its a 600ma pack.

If it's not peaking, just keep an eye on the voltage.

I just walk into the room every couple minutes and peek at the T-35, see whats up.

You canot really derive capacity from charge time, this only relates to the energy put into the cells, which in this case, sounds like quite a lot. Your cells could have a large internal resistance, causing them to loose alot of charge energy to heat, without them getting all that warm because of the low charge rate over a long period of time. It sounds as though the charger is just not detecting the peak, and the fact that they aren't getting hot because of this is due to the low charge rate.
