when you assemble it, use threadlock on the grub screw and make sure the notch aligns with the grub screw and tighten it into the notch..
even if the grub screw comes a little loose, the notch will prevent the pin from coming out
nb. i used a small triangle shaped file on the pins but you could also use a dremel with the right tip..

make a "V" shaped notch in the middle of the pin that goes through the cross joint..

I also found out if you drive a 1/10 Kyosho that the cylinder is a tad bit smaller but fits. not a permanent fix but something to get you thru a race.

Cool, thanks for that info regarding the centre one way kit guys.
I'll have to test it and feel the difference for myself. Will post back.
Have my ESC and batteries in the mail so should be able to have a nice test run this weekend coming.
Somehow I ended up with two brand new TA05s and also a one way centre pulley, just trying to work out if it's better to have that on the drifter car, or on the racer.

Ok, I have a few question:
1. The carbon chassis, is it better than the tub chassis that comes with the kit and if so why?
2. The front and rear carbon shock towers on the tube chassis, will it make a difference having them or no?
3. Should i spend the money getting all the upgrades or should i just go and get a 416?
Thanks for the help

parts advice
Building up my first TA05... and have questions for hop-up parts:
1. Universals F/R. In the manual I see both 46 and 48mm (TAM 53836 and TAM 53847). Which ones do I want for the front & rear? Or buy the ones by Integy?
2. Pinion gears. Are they 48 pitch? Metric? Should I get the Robinson Racing ones?
3. Are the Stabilizer Set F/R worth the $16?
4. Any other changes I should make right off the bat...
THANKS!

The stabilizer bars are needed.
The kit spurs and pinions are 0.6 module, which Robinson Racing calls "metric 48 pitch", so ya they should fit. I think the Tamiya ones do their job and are usually dirt cheap though.

This will give you more tuning options. It will allow you to either gear up or gear down depending on the track size and track layout. You can use the spur that is with the kit but you will need almost a complete set of pinions so that you can test and tune with. just my .02

48 pitch and 0.6 module are close to the naked eye, but not the same - if you mix them they'll be noisy and wear fast. The kit spur is 0.6 module, so you either need to stick with 0.6 mod pinions, or do what I did and swap the spur for a 48P Kimbrough (I did this so I could use my huge collection of 48P pinions from offroad buggies).
