I've got the standard length springs and the collars are about 2 mm down. This is with the tires for USVTA, so that may be part of it.

strange, with the kit setup mine was dragging on the floor. I had to stretch the springs to get them to fit, and add some preload.

I'll take a couple of pictures and post them here so you can see my car and compare.

Has anyone picked up an 05ms? I'm thinking it has to be but just wanted to verify that the motor mount was different between the STD 05 and the MS version.

Yes the motor mount is quite different and cannot bolt on a TA05.

Actually I am looking at going the other way, converting my 05 to an MS to run GT1 with. I'd like to hope all I need is the chassis plates and the motor mount, but unsure if the bulkheads and the rest all transfers over too.

The 416 steering blocks will fit into the 05R parts. May have to shim one side
This what I did on my 414

I don't think any of the parts are compatible. This is why they have different front & rear alloy bulk-heads, motor mounts, belts, etc. Frankly, I dont even know why they call it a TA05MS. My best guess would be that Satoshi Maezumi just wanted to build a long wheelbase car from Aniverssary Porche parts or something...

Sorry but no chance of that. Nothing would fit right. None of the parts convert except suspension pieces. Even the aluminum bulkhead hop up for the TA05 is different than the 05MS bulkheads.

Here's a good deal on an 05MS. You could probably sell your R for good money and pay the difference...

Of course I'de rather buy the MSXX for $50 less as it's a way better car (if you run Nimh)...

Nope, want to hold onto my car I have now, just looking for a less tweak-prone chassis for GT1

Pick what size pitch size you are going to run, 48 or 64. Remember Tamiya pitch doesn't mesh well with standard 48 pitch, It's a bit different.

Then if you know what FDR (Final Drive Ratio) works for you and track you can figure out what size spur/pinion to use

Tip: Tamiya's 70t spur diameter size is the equvilant to a 93t 64 pitch diameter spur. The biggest Spur I've run in my TA05 is 104 64p anything really bigger is going to hang out the bottom of the chassis.

From what I understand a 13.5 brushless motor is supposed to be about the same as a 27t brushed stock motor. I've seen suggested FDR gear recommndations for 27t brushed/4-cell Vintage at: 5.4 - 5.7 FDR

Personally I've run FDR's at 8.0 - 5.0 in touring class depending on the track.

Hope this helps.
