yup i know that tamiya bearings are all good, but subjected to be busted (especially the two bearings in the wheel) and you need to find replacement.
Back to my question, any body knows the sizes of bearings design for TA05?
(also ball bearings for ball diff )

i always had problem in find 05 bearing because of the unusual size so i did a 416 conversion that uses common clutch bells end are much better. You shoud do the same.

The lightweight suspension set and universals throughout are the best upgrades IMHO if you're looking for compatability across the Tamiya range

Can you describe the conversion and the parts need?

I just picked up 2 TA05s for my son and I, so I'm still learning about the car.

I was tired of goofing around with lesser batteries and finally went with a higher end lipo battery and now it doesn't fit in my standard bucket TA05. Its a SMC Lipo 5000. How do you make them fit? Or do you just let them "ride high"? If you let them ride high what sort of battery holder should I get? OR did I just waste by $129 and need to flip it for a smaller battery?

You could probably sand down the battery slots on the chassis or go with packs that are closer in size to stick packs (ie yeah racing 3200s or Orion 3200/3800s).

I personally wouldnt bother with sanding the slots at all and let the pack "ride high" as you put it. The lipo weighs less than a NiMH pack so its not likely to affect centre of gravity even when sitting higher. THe TA05 has a nicely protected area for the battery so I wouldnt let that concern you either.

That being said, chances are the larger than 3800 capacity packs will be taller so other brands may also suffer this issue. Incidentally, the Intellect IP3800 fits nicely in my TA05 but its one of the shorter packs.

You might also like to fit spacers between the battery posts and the chassis which will raise the pin holes for the battery holder and allow taller packs to fit in. I'd do this if the packs were causing undue stress on the battery holder.

dont bother to sand anything. I use an Orion Platinum 4800 and it only sits about 5mm higher than my regular 6-cell Ni-Mh pack. Just flip the battery strap over to the smooth side, raise your battery posts to compensate for the increased height, and you're ready to go. as stated before, the increased center of gravity will be canceled out by the fact that you just shaved off 200+g of weight.
