I actually put a sticker on the bottom of the chassis to block the hole under the spur. For me, this helped keep small pepples out of my spur gear....

Anyways, I ran my TA05 today. It ran pretty good in stock class! Came to within 1 sec of my best qualifying time I had with my EvoIV several months back. I was even able to get my car to a decent weight of 53.4oz. So I'm gonna have to add weight to make it legal at 53.7oz. I ran the kit locked pulley and made a spool out of a front diff by using the sandpaper trick and taking out the diff balls. This is a much lighter setup than running the front oneway and center oneway. I ended up with TQ. But the first couple laps were bad which made my front spool/diff screw come loose. So I pulled the car off the track.. I'll have to super glue the spool together this time. Well see how it does tomorrow/Sunday at another track....

I will say it drives alot smoother than my EvoIV. Can't wait to see if SpeedtechRC makes the graphite chassis kit for it...

Ok - I bought one. I have a question on the TRF shocks. Is the #49355 set complete shocks or are they just the shock bodies and caps? Also, how much flex is there in the stock shock towers?
-David
Oh, anyone want to buy an Evo IVms?

The shock kit is a complete set except for oil.

That is hard to describe. In the factory setup the flex is actually very little since the inner holes are being used (I think the rear flexes less than 1/32" from 0 load to when the chassis hits ground). But if you are using the holes further out, then the flex is going to be a bit more.

Note: Some people look at the flex from 0 load to when the shock/spring is fully compressed. The better way is to mount the tires on one end of the car and hang them off the edge of a table and then, keeping the bottom of the car flat against table, slide the car till the wheels are on the table, and watch the shock tower. This simulates the chassis hitting the ground during a run. It is possible for the suspension to compress further during cornering, but such compression is going to be pretty rare.

Angry Setups???

Hi all, I've searched all over for TA05 setups to try and have had absolutely no luck. Has anyone run a semi-successful TA05 setup which I can work with? if not, has anyone seen any available on the net? I'm racing in a tar/road surface type parking lot.

i built mine as per kit settings, except the following:

TRF shocks, 2-hole, 40wt oil front and rear
yellow springs f+r
red sways f+r

it was a pretty good starter on prepped asphalt track. didnt have a lot of time to make adjustments, so i ran it like that.

great, thanks for the fast reply! I've just bought a set of TRF Dampers and also using yellow springs. Have you not adjusted the spring tension manually on your shocks?

Is there any real advantage to running dual oneways (front and center)? I plan on purchasing the front, but is it worth the extra money to get the center one aswell?

I have never been able to drive with a 1 way...too squirley for me. I like the 4wd/4wbraking. suits my driving style. Whenever I use a 1 way I get the spinnnnnnnarounds!

I'll post my setup for Stock Touring asphalt.... lemme open up photoshop and set one up....

Anyways, ran the TA05 again today. Ran pretty good. Very smooth. Held TQ til the 3rd round til my friend with his 415MS grabbed it from me. hehe. Anyways... bad luck again in the main... got hammer by just about every car in the first turn... front spool/diff loosened up gain. So I pulled the car. Yup... I still didn't superglue the diff down. I guess I will next time!! Can' wait til Tamiya's version comes out.

I've very interested in seeing what' Speedtech's chassis will do. Car seems pretty capable.
