Need a little help with gearing. Was told my final drive should be 3.7 to 4.0
I have a 64p 96t spur. (spur divided by pinion x 2.055) For me to reach 3.72 I will need a 53t pinion. That sounds huge to me and makes me think I will have major heat issues. Am I missing something or doing something wrong. Running RS Pro,LRP 17.5 and rubber tires.

I would stick with the 4.00FDR first and watch the temp stay around 160-180 deg..after 3minutes marks..
for some reason the LRP motor get hotter than others motors..
I would get a motor fan just the keep the motor temp down when your gearing tall..I would ask the fast guy at your track and see what thet are gearing for 17.5..LRP motor like to gear taller than most others motor..

I have a NIP 53952, which says it works with the TA05MS, TA05-IFS, TA05 ver II and the limited edition 934. If no-one else pipes up, I can grab the instructions out and scan them.

Phil.

Thanks for the offer, but don't open a new part on my account. I think I have it put in correctly. I just wanted to see in which order the shims are supposed to go. Also which way the one way is supposed to freewheel

I have a TA05 v2 stock roller. I am debating buying a new car or making the TA05 "bullet proof" to have fun on WCRC's track.

Should I keep the TA05 and buy some hop up's?
Is the TA05 still a worthy platform?

Give TA05 to nephew's and buy the latest greatest?
What's a good platform?

Need some help with Drive belts. I have a 49400 which uses two identical length belts. part# 6244012 (no longer in stock at tamiyausa, found one on ebay and bought for reserve). I don't know how long it is and the site doesn't say. Are there any markings I can read on the belt itself? Or a table somewhere with the different part numbers and lengths?

I put a TA05 spool in the front without problem. But the TA05 Gear Diff (37T) I was going to try to put in the rear won't work because the belt is not long enough. The pulley is the stock 16T.

any help, pointers, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The 934 shares many components with the TA05MS, but it has a shorter wheelbase meaning the front belt is shorter than the TA05 one. As a result, it's based on the version 1 of the TA05 and uses 36T pulleys. I went looking, but couldn't find a 36T gear diff; the TA05V2 uses 37T pulleys and the belts aren't going to make it.

I converted mine to a TA05MS by replacing the two decks and getting a TA05 front belt. The best place for hard-to-find Tamiya bits is probably RC Champ (http://www.rc-champ.co.jp/). Send 'em an email and see if they can get the belt for you.

If you're planning on racing 1/10 onroad, then rather than muck around too much with the 934 (it's a beautiful thing ), grab a standard car

Blashphemy! I have 4-5 bodies for it, it's going to be used for as long as possible.

The belt has 318-3-3 on it, I'm assuming that's length-width-height. I ordered a TA05 V2 belt that is 342mm before I spotted that, which may be too long.

If that doesn't work is there a place that sells custom belts?

p.s. I also have another non-standard TA05, the m-four.. love it!

The 49400 got me back into the hobby, so I have a fondness for it too . In my part of the world, the short wheelbase makes it illegal for racing so, with the MS decks, I turned it into a legal racer

At some stage, I may turn it back, because I have a bigger soft spot for Porsche race cars (the MS chassis is a little too stiff for where I normally race, so it's doing duty under an SLS body as an F1 Safety Car).

The 318-3-3 refers to length, pitch (3mm spacing between teeth) and width (well, the length and pitch are right, not 100% sure on the width part).

These two web sites are interesting:
http://racerlog.com/wiki/Touring_Car_Belts
http://formuladrc.forumotion.com/t33...r-some-cs-mods

If need a new one, check out RC Champ - their service is very good. I went looking for the 934 decks and belts last night, but couldn't immediately locate them...
