RCModel in Hong Kong is very reliable and priced right if they have the inventory in stock.

Just got some lipo's and i run in 540 Pro class, which is the johnson or mabuchi 540 silver can motors. This class was closely contested until a few of the other racers moved to lipo packs where they started dropping 1 to 2 seconds if not more off there lap times.

What is the best gear ratio to run in the ta05 for the 540 pro class with lipo packs? And what fdr should i be aiming for now that i will be running lipo packs.

Thanks for the help.

Hey,

The common 540 Pro gear range at my club is between 3.95 - 4.3. Use 3.95 only for really open tracks, it seems to be the limit for consistent running, though you still see people burn them out in a days racing. I personally keep the ratio between 4.2 and 4.3 as the motor comes off a little cooler .

Default help with 13.5bl gearing

hi guys,

what gearing do you suggest for a TA05 with a 13.5 orion bl motor? What's the best spur/pinion combo running it with orion 3800 lipos.

thanks in advance.

First of all myan thanks very much for actually posting up an fdr. A good starting point is all i was asking for. And its a bit hard to ask the other guys when we have finished for the year.

Follow the guy around the track and see where you're lacking I guess would be a good starting point
I can guarantee you that it does make a difference and a noticable one at that. Not just the pull out of the corners, they have more straight line speed.

I had been adviced to use 4.5 fdr
100(spur)/50(pinion)*2.25=4.5 or equivalent

it's really depend on your track size mate, i'm using 13.5 speed passion i gear it down to 4.5 the track contents 1 straight line, several chicane, and no hairpin at all so i can gear it down to 4.5 FDR...............using EP4200 cells it can run 8 minutes with rubber tires, temperature up to 60 celcius not too hot even with hot weather track temp up to 60 celcius

They add much needed strength, improve flex and are MUCH easier to set belt tension
