Default gearing

Gud day to all,

Decided not to trade my TA05 and I just finished building it today, took me 24 man hours to put it all together. My questiioon is this what would be the proper gearing if your going to use stock motor? Is there any set-up sheets available already? Any help would be appreciated.

BTW what wouold be the best optin parts to buy first?
TB's, swing shaft or steering set?

gearchart.com is the best place to get your gear charts. Just find the internal gear ratio in your manual. Stock racing gear it between 7.54 to 6.75 depending on your track seize. For after market parts that are important start with these: universals , shocks , all the suspension blocks , red , blue , yellow , and white springs. And if you race carpet pick-up a set of grey and purple springs. That's all you really need to be very competitive. Both of tamiya's suspension's are very good. I still have had great success with the old suspension on my ta04. TQ'ed 4 out of six tamiya regional's this year. And won 5 out of six regional's and taking third in the other one.
Good luck
PS: When your driving gets better one-ways will be the next important thing to buy. Don't let anyone tell you different, one-ways are alway's faster with rubber tires.

Hi Guys,

Just want to post a quick note in here that the first batch of TA05 hop-ups are now available in the US, which means these parts should be legal for TCS National at the end of the month.

TA05 TCS legal hop-up parts

Hi! I would gladly suggest you use a 102t/64pitch spur gear, this would give you more gear ratio choices. On a 27t motor use 35t/64p to 39t/64p pinion, on a 23t motor use 33t/64p to 37t/64p pinions. The lower pinions will give you better acceleration, eg. on a technical track.

Good luck!

Thanks

I got your email, sorry for the late reply. We are looking into it. Right now, the TA05 is a very popular car in Japan as well as in the US.

It comes with TAMIYA plastic holder. I'm using TechRacing CF holder, but it need 2 o-ring on top to kill the play since TechRacing CF holder is lots thin than stock plastic holder.

I saw few TA05 photos from JP, they have tape hole drilled by themself and using tape.

Is the battery holder the same as the TB-02? Maybe the TB-02R CF plate will fit..
