Hope someone can help me...

Is this your first TA05 or do you have another to compare it too? The car is just loud. When I first ran mine I thought it was broken but it's was not. The car is just way louder then other cars. I think it has to do with the sealed diff boxes and the layout.

As long as it's not binding it should be fine to run the car.

Xanavi, try a different motor, mine is whisper quiet all the time, spur and pinion that comes with Tamiya kits are junk too.

what do you mean by first??? yes it is my first ta05 and last ta05 but I dont have another ta05 to compare with it... But before I test the kit, it was whistling but then after few packs, then I just noticed it was noisy...

Will try changing the motor if I have time to do so... but for now, school papers first... haha...

The TA05 is as quiet as any other belt drive out there, and if the noise has only just started, it won't be the belt, it is either the spur/pinion, even the mesh is worse checking, or the motor.

I had an annoying noise like that before, turns out it was one of the bearings holding the spur shaft.. I guess a rock flew between the spur and the mount, pushing the shaft to one side and dinged up the bearing in the process..

Now on the spur shaft I use a piece of silicone tubing to fill the gap instead of a solid spacer. I put a shim on the end so the silicone doesn't provide any resistance when it rubs the side.. It's solid enough to keep things from shifting, but will absorb any shock to spare my bearing should the same thing happen again.

Any of you out there that have the Penguin upgrade for the TA 05, could you share some of your set up secrets. I have just gotten this chassis and want to head off any headaches early.

Thanks Rodney

i just spent three days running on a carpet track. after putting it on a setup board and making sure everything was the same, i put it on the track. i chased a steering servo problem for two days, and i used process of elimination to figure that the servo itself was just shot. i ran all day today and was clearly the fastest on the track, with a box stock setup! pretty cool schooling guys at their own track with a tub chassis against sponsored Xray drivers.just used a DNA2 body and CS27s with PGFXII traction compound.

Being that TA05 diffs are fully open to dirt and dust, I read somewhere about putting a sticker to keep it clean. Anyone have an idea where to get these 'stickers?'

Do you guys think 100spur and 45pinion will fit in the 05? I was told to gear a 10.5 brushless motor to 5.0 FDR. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
