hey guys,
i race in the Geneva (Switzerland) carpet challenge, and we race with 23t motors. We race among a few famous drivers (eg. Jean-Marc Betticher and Fabien Valentin). Now, i am new to the TA05 chassis, so could any of you tell me the internal drive ratio of this chassis so that i can get a competitive gear ratio to compete against the front runners.
thanks for any replies,take care.

Default TA-05 project

Hi Guys,

I've been a casual Tamiya fan for years and am new to this forum, Steve from Speedtech RC told me I should join. Couple of years ago I started doing custom conversions. My first one was converting a EVO 4 to fit the F201 bodies and F1 tires. Then when I saw the Courage body kit for the F103 GT. I thought it would look cool if it fit on a TA-05, the best of both worlds: a cool body shape with 4wd belt driven stability. So after alot of cutting, milling and some CAD work I finally got it done. Using the Penguin R/C carbon fiber conversion made it even better and easier. I'm all about fun so it's got an old Novak Brushless motor and LiPo batteries. It seems Tamiya is also thinking this way with their new TA-05 IFS. I have some pictures if you guys are interested. I drove the tub based version about 6 weeks ago at the soon to be closed Tamiya track, but just finished the carbon version today.

I had a much better run with my new 05R at the weekend. A few more tweaks and it was fair hovering...

Seriously though, I've traced what I believe was a fairly major issue with the older ESC I was using supplying too little voltage for my new servo(Sanwa ERG-WRX)and causing radio issues. A bit of swapping around with the gear in my Yokomo BD appears to have fixed everything.

Thats hawt Simon. What sort of issues were you having with your ESC? Im running my R for the first time later today and this is the second time people have mentioned issues with static or electrical issues...

Ive not had any experience of them, but I race with a kimbrough spur gear (72t 48dp) and not had any problems so far on my 3racing chassis.

tbh,any should work fine, providing the ever so important geat mesh is good to go

Thanks for the compliment Peter. If you like I could do a more "extensive" history on how I built the car.

Your motor fan must be really strong to make the car hover like that. Cool pic

FACT- ANY TA05 or TA05R in the right hands can win races, against high end Xrays etc. Just give it the wheel time it deserves, dial in the car to the track... And win.

I am not far off doing this in stock class. Just keep those lap times consistant
