Chris,

I've heard rumors that they might close the Tamiya track in Aliso Viejo to the public...is this true?

I appologize to Chris for answering for him, but the short answer is yes, the track will probably close sometime after August of this year. I am sure Chris can give you more details.

no worries.

yes the tamiya track is closing sometime towards the end of this year is the latest rumor?

the building and property that the track sits on is on the market. BUT.... the Reedy Race, TCS Regionals and TCS Nationals will still be held there as posted by Fred Medel on the tamiyausa website.

i really hope they find an alternative since a lot of people enjoy running at the tamiya track and participating in the TCS series. (myself included)

Hey, let's start a pool to buy the property. We can race there whenever we want. I have $20 bucks burning a hole in my pocket. I'll start the pool. Who's in?

Just a guess.....1/2 a million $ just for the land, and lets say 100G for the construction....is that possible? Again...just a guess. And I think we all have to chip in more then $20. Even I am in Chicago, I will chip in $20 just to help and keep one of the top notch track in USA....

One question about the TA05MS is whether they've shaved any significant amount of fat from that porker.. seeing as everything that was plastic is now aluminum, I'm not thinking so..

I think i'll wait for the 416.. one TA05 is good enough for me, and the Xenon chassis gives me the carbon goodness when I need it.

Besides, you won't be able to run GT2 with this one, and I'm sure GT1 will still be ruled by the 415..

I don't believe so...I'd bet the 05MS will be a superior car to the 415.

Between the plate chassis and no braces and diff cases I'd bet the car is much lighter.

What about the 415 makes a better performing car? It has the same suspension and from all accounts the ballance of an 05 is much better than a 415, so it would be safe to assume that a 415 suspension with better weight ballance would be a better car.

The 415/Cyclone/T2/RDX/TC5 layout has the advantage today because todays batteries are so heavy and these layouts put all that fat very close to the middle. This is possible because the rear belt is short and the battery sits right next to the front belt. As battery weights and shape change (5-cell racing, 4-cell racing, LiPo racing), this design might no longer have such a dominance. We might see more twin-belt (equal length) designs or even the return of the shafties, or maybe Pro3/JRX-S style layouts. The next killer app for touring depends a lot on which direction battery rules go.

Apologies to all but just a FYI I am selling my TA05R, it's on Ebay and I do ship worldwide, take Paypal etc.

Have a look, let me know if I am way off on the price. (No idea!)
