Default when you just gotta beat nitro's :)

Here are pics of what happens when you have a good budget from selling your nitros, free time, and a desire to pass ALL nitro cars at the local track. I can still run the electric track, just a much farther drive. I'm currently running 2s lipo (competitive with touring class cars, they get me in second, but I eat 'em up in the corners). When I run the 3s, I can't find anything that keeps pace with it I can fly by an 1/8 scale at will
List of stuff:
3racing diff joint rear
3racing spool front
3racing chassis conversion
3racing aluminum at all corners
universals
aramid belts
3racing shocks
carbon fiber towers
yeah racing bearing set
titanium screwset
titanium buckles
carbon bulkheads
3racing aluminum suspension mounts
and the pics:

No doubt the TA05 and TA05R are great cars, but I am curious as to how some people are calling them MSX beaters. Now look, I loved my TA05, until I got an MSX....

Spin the front wheels on a TA05 with a front one way...

then do it on an MSX with a front one way

Same wheel bearings, but the MSX one way is so much more efficient it's crazy

That is the main thing that sold it for me, I was about to buy polymide bearings for the 05 to find more efficiency, and it was the TA05 hop up One way that was the culprit all along...

Just my 2c

I spent $1000 all up on my TA05 "fling" (2 * cars, incl an 05R and EVERY HOP UP!)

I have spent $300 total on my MSX

my MSX is 0.6 seconds a lap faster. Same electrics, motor, FDR etc etc.

My guess is your 05 was lacking a little in setup. I have also owned 415s and I'm not sure where the big difference in efficiency is???

My 05 is ultra quiet and smooth. Now I am not denying that the 415 is an excellent car...but I seem to remember some info back when the 05 was introduced and the factory guys were faster with their 05s...but Tamiya certainly wouldn't want that info to get out. I would bet that 95% of the time the average club racer could get the 05 dialed in much faster than a 415 and be able to be very consistent with it.

I am sorry you dropped a G on your 05s...I ran a box stock 05R this last weekend with almost no setup time and it easily TQ'd and won Super Stock rubber locally...It cost me $197 shipped. Where can you buy new MSXs for $300?

That'll cost as much as a 415msxx!!!
Doesn't matter, we're all gonna run out to get it!!!

It also depends what you're running against, our local track and shop owner is very big on high end cars

As such most of the guys in Stock have T2's (ie 90% of the field!) ,maybe 1 or 2 TA05's, a 415MSXX is in the mix as is an Evo 4 and this focus translates to what spares they carry (ie, X Ray and X Ray lol!)

It sounds like many tracks globally have less of a focus on high end cars?

..which is a good thing!

But I found to race locally and be competitive, you have to run a comparable car. for the track we ran the TA05R was a tad heavy and didn't roll in as well as the 415 (the front one way wasn't as efficient) but thats not to say that other tracks it couldn't be a dominant car!

..Plus the MSX has more Blue, I like Blue!

One of the top guys around here using a TA05 (with penguin chassis) and keeps up just fine with sponsored drivers with high end cars. Im not sure he has a single hop-up except for the penguin chassis.

Well I would be lyeing if I said locally our racers were into mid level cars. Actually i've been told several racers actually don't care for the 05 at all simply because it does so well! Myself and Darkseid race against T2s, RDXs, JRXSs..etc. every week. And I would also say we have a couple (myself not included) of the best top level midwest racers here locally. So we do have very stiff competition. But to each his own...whatever works for you is the best.
