HI all i have trf 415 and are looking at getting a ta05-r,would it be as good as my 415.I run a novak 3.5 and our track is a parking lot that is a very bumpy low traction track.I was thinking the ta05 might go a bit better on our track because of chassis flex.Any advise welcome

Yes, the flex will give you more overall traction. The TA05 is an excellent car for any class. If you want to run a 3.5 I would suggest getting the aluminum diff outdrives.

Hi all

I've been browsing these forums for a while and finally registered so I can get the lowdown on the TA05. I am a longtime Touring Car Racer but have been away for a few years. My last car was a YR4-M2 Pro.

Long story short, one night I had a dream about having a new RC car and the next day I was full-on searching for my next car. My TA05R is on it's way to me and will arrive next week...I can't wait!!! I'm preping it for my first venture at a TCS race and couldn't resist ordering some hop-ups before I even got the car!! I found the Tamiya Titanium Screw set from an overseas vendor along with Front and Center One-ways, BB steering set-up, and Blue Aluminum Motor Mount. These may take a while to get here so I'll be building the box-stock car first.

Questions:

*** What's the deal with the LW Carbon Tub Chassis? Is there a "tweak issue" like some have mentioned? If so, is it worth getting?

*** How does the TA05R's kit aluminum motor mount differ from the one that is available as a hop-up? Which is better?

*** Can someone briefly explain how using both front and center one-ways is better/worse than just using a front one-way diff? My YR4 only had the front option.

Thanks in advanced and I will post pictures of my TA05R chassis as soon as I get it.

some answers for you. hopefully the others will chime in with their opinions.

1. LW tub chassis. yes its tweaked. ask yourself, weight savings vs. tweak? ive been using the carbon tub since it came out, and ive set up my car to adjust for the tweak. also, the stiffer/lighter tub performs differently when compared to the heavier/not as stiff plastic tub.

2. blue aluminum motor mount is lighter and dissipates heat better. keeps your motor cooler. stock one doesnt, and its also heavier.

3. i havent felt the difference with a one way/locked center and double one ways. just purchase the front one way. the money you save from not buying the center one way can be spent on spares or other hop ups like springs, or TRF shocks.

hope that helps.

WOW, this board rocks!! That was fast. Thanks for the info.

I figure I'd run the stock tub since I'll be competing in GT2 and then just wait for the double-deck TRF chassis (when and if) for my local races. The one on the 30th Anniversary kit! That's the one I want!! Anyone try the 3Racing SSG Double Deck? It looks awesome!

either tub you use, it'll work great in GT2.

I don't think a double-deck works any better than the stock tub on asphalt, but if you really want one you should also look at the Penguin TA05 chassis kit

I wanted to ask everyone to keep an eye out for me.

I had the TA05 I raced @ TCS Worlds on the counter of the Hobby shop I volunteer at in the Seattle area. Between Sunday and Tuesday it came up missing.

If anyone sees anything for sale of a pretty loaded TCS legal looking TA05 could you please PM me.
Thanks.

Man I hate hearing about missing stuff at races!
That's the one thing that I am especially worried about at out-of-town races. Local races you feel better about because you've always got pit buddies hanging out with your stuff during heats. I am entering an out-of-town TCS race and I hate having to lock up my stuff between every heat, but otherwise I can't concentrate on my race if my stuff is out!

Sorry to hear that tamiyarcracer!
