Only thing I would do to a stock TA05 to make it bullet proof is...

Front CVD axles
Rear Aluminium suspens blocks

That should make it nigh on indestructible.

Hop-ups

TRF shocks
Carbon towers
MRE Pulleys

Other than that, everything else is BLING-a-ding-DING

(hopefully not often since that's the reason I'm switching to this car).
My suspension parts wore out and had to be replaced before anything came close to breaking.............

Maybe you might make yourself even more clear?? What class? What motor? what track? what surface?

Hi All

I have a TA05 and have been racing it for about 5 months.
I started racing with a standard kit with no hop-up's and found that the front ball diff kept on becoming a RWD car as the dogbones were catching on the ball diff as I raced. I tried threadlock (It did work for a period but came lost), Superglue on the thread (only work for about 2 racers), swapping the front and rear and the front came lost again. Lost count on how many times I rebuilt my front diff.
To solve this I put (Tamiya 53847) TA05 46mm Assembly Universal Shaft on the front and rear.
For other hop-up parts that I put into at the same time was the front one-way(Tamiya 53833), centre one-way(Tamiya 53841) (as a mate has got an Evo 4 and had both one-ways) and the TRF Damper set(Tamiya53571) with a set of On-Road Tuned Hard Springs(Tamiya53440).
I also purchased a TA05 LW Carbon Lower Deck(Tamiya53893).

For spares that are needed for starters would be a Lower Deck, TA04 C-parts front uprights (c1 & c2)(Tamiya50867), TRF 414M Ball Connector King Pin Set(Tamiya50968) and TA04 King Pin Set (MB07 * 4) (Tamiya50882). These are the part that I have needed in the time that I have racer my TA05.

I have also been advised to get a Aluminum Motor Mount(Tamiya53920) as the motor stays a little bit cooler.

Hope that this a some help to all. I was giving you's all the part numbers for those to race at the TCS.

I have never had a diff come loose... ever, whilst running either dogbones or CVD's.

Alright...alright... maybe not JRX-S level. But the LW suspension is no doubt a downgrade in durability over the stock suspension.

The question is, whether the gains out weigh the cost. For most people, it won't.

Just wanted to share with the TA05 fans my latest project. Coming on the heals of 'super' buildups like Steve Wangs TA05 project; here are first picture of my TA05 Project car.

I am in the midst of breaking in the drivetrain but here are the early shots of the Penguin R/C TA05. The graphite kit features 2.5mm quasi-iso lower deck and 2mm upper, shock towers, bumper brace and hardware. More info - www.penguinrc.com

Ummm, can someone post up pics of the 05R and some info. I'm still on the fence. evoV or 05R... :P with all the "ta05 betta than xray/assoc/etc.." with just universals, its hard to spend $400 on a car when the $130 ta05 will do.
