Painting session tonight at 1am... fabulous all-white spray job! Woo hoo, no sleep again just to finish a darn toy car... Oh for the love or R/C... I'm going crazy!

Oh yah, remind your mom not to cook the dogbones. Did you say you left it in the kitchen? Yikes!

I forgot to ask, does the TA05 come with a pinion gear? What do you guys suggest for a stock motor?

Eeyan,

How heavy is it? What's the difference between the 05 and the 04?

First drive last night, amd i have to say in bone stock configuration i was impressed, handled quite well, all i changed was went to some stiffer Xray springs and i was on pace with others in our local stock class. Running about 2/10's a lap slower than my 415. The car seems to have a lot of steering while remaining very stable, i cant wait to chuck a one way in it.

Mine weighs 1540 grams with a nemesis body, IB3600's, and Sorex wheels. It should be possible to get it under weight by adding the carbon towers, and alloy/titanium hardware

First impressions are top notch.

So far, I have a 945MG servo and sport tuned motor in it, and it weighs just barely 1kg (my scale keeps switching between 995 and 1000g)

The closest I can get is 1540g with the blue Peak 2400's... the body was heavier than I thought.

with 3300's, I'm at 1615g.

I guess I didn't phrase the question well, ok here I go again. The spur gear, whats the pitch and how many Tooth? Does it come with a pinion gear that will run with the stock spur gear? If not, what would be a suitable one for it?

The pitch is 48-metric, and it has 70 teeth. The new one they'll release for it will be 105T at the smaller .6 module for a much larger range of ratios.

It comes with a 22 tooth pinion, and it's fine for most stock racing, silver can or sport-tuned, i believe. Anything like 19 Turn and less will need maybe 20T and smaller, though I don't know how small it will allow...

If you've had a Tamiya kit before, you'll probably have a 19T pinion somewhere...

Default TONGUE TWISTER...

Team TAOB tested four totally tricked out (not!) TA05s at the Tamiya test track today... (now say that 10 times very very fast... )

First Impressions:

Chris... "I like the car. A lot of steering! I love it! "
Ian... "It's okay... just need to tame the steering a little bit. "
Izzy... "It's heavy! Wahhhh... the heck with it, I'm putting Sorex tires on it. "
Jas... "I'm going home! I'll run the TB02 next time... "

(If you guys check out the pics closely... you'll notice 4 totally different suspension setups. What worked? Secret... JAS KIDDING!)
