If you guys know anything about Tamiya then you'd know they started out with a Porsche 934. Very rare to find one and very nice. Then with the TA02, Tamiya made another hot porsche with the TA02SW. Very tricked out and had a shorter wheel base. Then came the TA03r-s. Race version and again short wheel based. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/car.asp?id=178
Tamiya loves Porsches.

You failed to mention the fastest, most technically advanced (at the time of release) and the Holy Grail of all the Tamiya kits, the Porsche 959, kit no. 58059.

Whatever its designed for, it looks cool. That center shaft designs is definitely out there. And I too would have my doubts about it while using heavy power motors.

This is a special limited edition release and not intended to be the next evolution of anything per say. Will these parts be seen again on another future vehicle? I cannot say.

I do see people using parts from this modified for other purposes say a 4WD Toyota MS2 or even a 4WD Suzuki, maybe even running M-Chassis wheels and a 1:10 Scale Pan Car body?

I think the idea of batteries down the side is still a bad idea but over all the car does look trick.

Since the brace holding the other side of the spur is gone, I wonder if the batteries have been shifted a bit more inward with the extra clearance.. can't quite see with that battery strap in the way..

I wonder if this car has parts taken from the new TRF501X seeing as the 501X is bassed loosely from a TA05??

knowing Tamiya, they will incorporate what is working good on their existing platform, like before the suspension (arms, knuckles, hub, mounts etc.) from the 414 up to the TA05. And now their latest development the steering assembly, probably see this until the TRF418 arrives.

My latest TA05 mod, moving 3 rear batteries inline 8mm. I think this should fix the inbalance problem of TA05 and make the driving even better. Will test it next week during the local Novak cup.

I wonder if this will fit the porsche old 959 body. Definitely a display queen + running alone type of car. Replacement chassis/shell will be insanely hard to find after the production run ends. I would stock up on NIB body sets seeing how the 959 bodyset costs me $250 on Ebay
