Before u guys get any wild ideas,

There is no other chassis of this type to be produced and it is a 1/12 based chassis designed to fit only the 934 body. According to Tamiya in our meetings with them this car is not and will not be anything similar to the fictious 416.

It is one bling car to keep but race.......that is yet to be seen.

Cheers

I was thinking, that looks fare bit shorter than my '05....

Not to sure on the way the layshaft mounts, long shaft, one half supported on bearings, the other half sticking out in free air with the spur and pulleys on it...

I want them bulkheads for my '05 though... wonder is someone could make the chassis longer to cater for the '05 belts.... mmm

I don't think it's 1/12 but it's 1/10 scale. Check the number:

TA05: width 191mm, wheelbase 257mm
Type934: width 202mm, wheelbase 230mm

So it's 11mm wider, 27mm shorter still within 1/10 scale I say.

And if you see it closly, the front/rear bulkhead is NOT what they use on 415MSX/MRE. The MSX/MRE bulkhead (photo) only has one screw to secure 2nd desk, but Type934 (photo) has 2. So at least the bottom part of bulkhead is different. I guess it's big chance it has the same bottom screw location with TA05 bulkhead.

I would say it's 100% TA05 origin TRF416-lead. Now the only question is.. how much it gonna sell on street. (My wallet.... )

Maybe it's intended for the new 4cell rules in Japan

Just have to mount a decent bodyshell on it......

The description says that the 934 will have a special reversable suspension arm. Sounds like what happened with the TA-04SS Audi.

It's highly doubtful any of these special pieces will fit the tub chassis.. from what it looks like, the suspension shafts are nearly 5mm shorter, as are the bulkheads to accomodate them. The wheelbase is as short as a Mini's..

I sure wouldn't be racing this thing, as a replacement chassis will be scarce..

Although it is notable that on the Tamiya USA site, from the 49400 page link if you click on the hop-up parts link at the top, you are taken to a list of the usual TA05 hop-ups, including the carbon bulkheads. This would seem to indicate the parts are compatible with the tub.... I'm just sayin'....

Yup, short LWS as in the description..

Interesting how the site's 3rd picture (battery-side of the mount) is different from the thumbnail they show (motor-side of the mount).. I'd like to actually see that picture..

Meh, what a ripoff, this car looks just like a Tamiya.

After looking at the Tamiya website photos for the new TA05 Commemorative car, the cantilever design that holds the spur gear and belt pullies, I can't imagine it being stable/durable enough for mod type motors, it looks like it would get wobbley or the bearings would wear quickly or the main shaft might tweak after a while - just doesn't look like a robust design for racing.

That being said, I really like the thought of this kit and I do not think this model is meant for racing duty, but if the new center bulkhead design is carried forward to the next TA05 or 415 chassis designs, I will be sceptical of the design - might have to take a wait and see approach before buying.
