I am still sticking to the tub chassis...infact I am going to buy another 05 and leave it bone stock except for MRE pulleys and black aramid belts. I built a bone stocker for a younger racer in my area and tested the car on our track...and man! Now I remember why I love this car soooo much...it was almost better than my car and I have a year of tuning on my 05!

Just finished building my stock TA05 (apart from trf shocks). Can't wait to try it at my indoor club here in Scotland.

It's weighing in at 1620g with foams.....where are the main weight savings to be had, without buying the 3-racing chassis conversion?

Also, does anyone have a good setup for foam on carpet? Any other tips?

Thanks,

Dan

The chassis naturally saves most of the weight from the original, but carbon fibre shock towers/mounts can help,as well as titanium screws.

You probably wont see a huge difference just doing the latter though.

Try to keep your cabling as short as possible too, that will help a little with the weight,as well as not spraying thick layers of paint onto the shell,it can only see a small difference of 10g or so/ less on the shell, but it all adds up.

Dan, Lightweight suspension would be a BIG weight loss, but isn't cheap and means all new wishbones, hubs, bearings etc.

To save weight without the 3Racing chassis

Titanium Screws
Reinforced chassis and bulkheads
Carbon towers
Alloy bones on the rear
Try NOT to replace plastic/carbon graphite with alloy it ALWAYS weighs more
MILL the bugger everywhere.

I don't have the lightweight suspension on mine, but my biggest savings was going to aluminum screws. That was a big difference. And I have had no screw failures in the year that I have raced the car.

I've converted over to the see-thru blue pieces and haven't seen any issues over the graphite pieces. Anyone else running them? Granted I only run GT3 with this car but admittedly the TA05 is one of the best cars I've own...

Nice ride!!! Looks just like my TA05 Only I don't have the clear blue parts.

What blocks are you running in the rear? XC-B?

How does it hook up with the white springs front and rear?

I'm running-
1 XC- FRT/FRT
1 XD- FRT/REAR

1 XA- REAR/FRT
1 B- REAR/REAR

The white springs are not actually white, they're the limited edition 'Milky blue' ones. And in front I'm running Blues & in the rear Yellows. I run on high-bite indoor asphalt & the car is hooked up big time
The pics doesn't show the changes I made in the rear but I have the alum. diff in now & 2mm spacers under the outer camber link; that really planted the rear end.
