The Orion carbon lipo pack will be out in October, not in time for KO Gran Prix

Default Light Weight LW Suspension Kit

Hi to all TA05 owners,

Can you let me know the difference between the stock and the LW Suspension Kit (53899). Does it make the car lighter ? If yes, how much more ? Does it make the car go faster ? I'm not sure if I should upgrade my suspension to these coz at the present moment my car is fitted with CVD front and back.

All comments are appreciated.

Tks to all.

I think it is something like 43g lighter, plus the wishbones are reversible. I think there are two kits, one is narroer than the other, but the one designated for th 05 should be a direct fit.

You do not need to run the expensive "cookie Jar"

You can simply use a mason jar ($.80 at any major grocery store) and punch some holes in the top. You can buy 12 mason jars in a box for $9 at Albertsons (look in the baking section) and make a bunch for all your friends or even sell them to others and make a profit.

KO feels the need to do this as many people are still experimenting with various forms of Li-Po. They assured us they felt it was not needed for our Li-Po's (Orion/Peak) but to be fair the rules should apply to all.

Unfortuntely the communication has been misread to make some think they have to use the "Cookie Jar".

Sorry for the thread jack and now back to talking about the TA05 "the people's race chassis."

Its funny that even races that allow LiPo still feel that they need to take extra precautions. If they think that LiPo is dangerous, they need to take a look at this thread coolest battery explosion ever

No, it's about 27.7 g lighter using the lightweight susp arm (53899) with 48 mm swing shaft front (53836) and rear (53871, alum ones).

If you buy another shorter lt.weight reversible (53928), it will be about 30g lighter

I keep wondering if using lt.wt. suspension arms is the best way to lose weight. My fk04 is light, but carries a fair amount of weight in the suspension, and feels great in the chicanes. I would think you would want to keep the weight further out and the chassis would seem a bit more planted. Of course, I could be way off base...any input from my TA05 bretheren...--Al

go with whatever fits your driving style. i personally have the box stock suspension for my TA05. the reason is simply i'm not ready to switch to LW yet cos that might change the feel of the car. as for lightweight or go faster, you might want to check around and see whether the fully hopped up TA05 is the fastest out there

if not, then those hop ups might not play crucial role in making the car go faster.

The biggest change, going to LW suspension, is the use of 9x5 bearings on the axle, and these do tend to be a lot more fragile than the kit units, so for me, racing indoors on carpet with a tight track, durability rules!!.
