Yes, you guys caught me and quoted my rants, and at the time that's what they were. I'll stick by what I said, being that I'm not Bill Clinton! Like you said, I'm quoted so I can't take it back. And I threw myself under the bus about staying in SPEC when I shouldn't have. I just think it's time to leave SPEC to the real novices. I'm moving up to GT2 to get my butt handed to me. I have a brand new never-been-run TA-05 with hop ups. Any setups will be appreciate specifically for Fredneck.

Where'd the TA05 discussion go? When did tuning the kit motor become the interesting thing?
One thing - the comment about the amp draw limit in the Canadian TCS series mini class is interesting, as we ran the western canadian finals last sunday (july 9th). I was a bit surprised how close the mini racing was. We had a past NA mini Champ running who only managed to get one lap up on second in best three runs out of four, total laps total/time racing. I was hoping He'd have laid a bit more smack down, but that was good enough to get me the prize for guessing the winners.. A TA05 kit was part of that prize

Anyone manage to fit a Novak SS speed control in their TA05?

For Monster Stock, around 26mm (32/105 and rubber tires) is a good start, CO27 seems to be 2 teeth larger..

Some of the NEW ESC's have LiPo detection but I can garauntee you that 95% of ESC's in use, don't.

So, we have someone who buys a basic LiPo pack from eBay, chucks it in his XYZ car with a budget ESC, whizzes round for ages, doesn't realise about the minimum votage issue with LiPo, LiPo swells then goes bang, very quickly.... imagine that at the club.
Thats what instructions are for. This is nothing new to LiPo, if you use any product without following the directions, bad things can/will happen. By your logic, if someone doesn't read the instructions about not over charging NiMH cells, then its not they're fault, its the fault of the battery technology. As someone who actually owns one I can tell you that there are at least 3-5 different occasions on the battery, box and/or instructions that tell you not to completely discharge them while running. So if this same "someone" you mentions goes ahead and throws it in car XYZ and runs it down to nothing, then whose fault is it?

Quote:
And yes, I have seen question, 'can I charge LiPo on me XXX brand charger' because they think they can.
I have seen those questions too. And when they are asked, people tell them what charger they can use and what chargers they can't. So whats your point, that they're doing something wrong by asking if a particular charger is compatible?

Quote:
I am not afraid of change, but when an item needs a whole set of new parameters for other items, I think it is best waited for, for a couple of years, so the technology trickles down.
EVERY SINGLE THING YOU'VE MENTIONED had to also be tackled when NiMH took the place of NiCD.

-Different chargers-Check
-Different charging method-Check
-Danger in charging them improperly-Check

We've been there done that before...So why is there so much hateration going around for LiPo? You keep saying it should be "waited for a couple years", well it is. We're entering the second year of Orions/Peaks car specific LiPo packs. I highly doubt they will be legal before the end of this year, so it will likely be middle of next year at the earliest. So your getting the wait that you want...but the change is coming. Haters or not...

That oil's kinda thick, but it all depends on surface and tires. Where are you losing grip, entering, mid, or exit of a corner and which end, front, rear, or both?

Well, I still have me reservations. Not a hate, just reservations.

As for going from NiCd to NiMH, a simple peak charger would still work and not overcharge.

Anyhows, this is a TA-05 thread, lol.

Nuthin' wrong with having reservations. Heck I did the same thing with Spektrum when it came out. And it turned out that waiting till they got all the bugs out was the right thing to do.

But with this LiPo thing, people seem so polarized. They either love it....or the things are gonna "let go" and hurt somebody. To me, this is no different than the NiCD to NiMH change. People don't have to switch right away, but that is the way the battery tech is going.

Yes, but that was a dangerous chance to take. Or at least thats what they told all of us when they said "go buy a new charger for NiMH".

Agreed...

But when a car runs so well, its kinda hard to find stuff to talk about.

But remember that surface was a real equalizer for anyone, and thanks for the vote in Extreme.

The R should be out sometime soon, like the TB02-R was last year.. I just want the carbon fibre braces.. what else could they really release?

Well, these:
Alternated Diff Pulleys.. instead of clipping every other tooth from the belt for lower friction...
Standard:

One-way:

I guess these will be a blast for silver-can drivers!
