TA05 is now in-store in Japan. Mine should be here early next week. Bling to follow shortly after!

Cheers,

I guess it also definitely answers my previous suspension block question.

Titanium Coated Damper Shafts?? Do they usually break under racing conditions?

Does anyone know what they're saying on the of the second leaflet after the gearing charts? I'm guessing it's about the GT classes of the Tamiya Championships...

I'm sure the std. 64 pitch gears will work just fine, you obviously have more of a selection with the fine pitch gears! I haven't bent or broke one yet and I've been racing with Tamiya shocks for 4 years!

maybe there just saying it will be legal for the world finals in Japan?

Here is my current wish-list for hopup, in order
1. TRF damper
2. front/rear CVD
3. front spool (probably will need to mod front diff into spool)
3. alu suspension mount
4. roll bar
5. alu steering rack
6. carbon fiber damper tower

total will cost around 200usd i guess. and it hasn't include LW suspension.

Just got home from the LHS with my new TA05
Hope you guys dun mind me sharing with you the 1st impression.

I got the stock TA05 kit (With Ferrai F430 body) Item 58345**16800

General notes of this kit :
* Includes Stock silver can motor
* Plastic mini CVA shocks (sorry TTSO)
* Alloy motor mount
* Full bearings (Normal metal shield type)
* Does NOT include any MSC or ESC
* Usual Tamiya quality instructions booklet and packaging

1st thing I pick up and looked closely at was the chassis, surprisingly it was quite stiff (as compared to the TB02 tub) but I guess I'll have to complete the car before an final judgement can be made on the stiffness of the stock chassis. The TA05 tub has looks to kill ! .....the up flanged edges has ribs that looks fast !

2nd thing I pick up was the alloy motor mount, it not the shiny blue stuff like in the 415MS but a dull gray alloy piece, nothing to shout about but I guess thats better than the usual Plastic pieces provided in most Tamiya standard kits, the slots provided for range of motor movement dun seems to be alot !
I guess Spur gear changing would be quite a regular feature.

I'll be busy putting this baby together the next few nights. Will post here any nitpicks or pleasant surprises I come across !

Okay, I gotta go grab me some dinner.... Tamiya TA05 diehards let me know wat you wanna see, ....and maybe I'll post some picts !

nahhh ! .....You'll be getting yours a couple weeks time... I'll post anyway just to whet your appetite !

Default TA-05 Bodies

Hello,
I am looking to get a Ta-05.
I am wondering what Tamiya bodies would fit the chassis?
Also what Tamiya Shocks should I used?
Thank you for the help.

Default TA05 Review

Burp ! ....excuse me ! finished dinner and could'nt wait to start on the kit.

The following is my personal review of the TA05, please forgive me if there are any inaccuracies when you get yours as I live in a tiny red dot on the map, somewhere in Asia and Tamiya may not have the same specs for the TA05 in your region.
Also please dun ask me "How much ?" as that would not be fair to your LHS and I strongly believe in supporting LHS.

Finally, please forgive me for the large number of Pics which will follow as i feel that a Pic tells a thousand words.

How should I start...... maybe with the fine box art that is uniquely Tamiya

Tamiya has announced the following Hopups for the TA05:

Okay, let get down to it, first off the chassis .....top view

and the bottom view

I've mentioned the side reinforcement rib earlier, here it is from the bottom, front:

and the bottom, rear:

From this angle, you can see the upwards slant at the front of the chassis, to me it looks real cool and fast :

.....to be continued

Default TA05 review

Continue .....part 2

The battery slots are unique, note the air ducts for cooling the batteries:

There are 4 holes for motor cooling, the front 2 has ductings for leading air into the motor area:

The front and rear pulleys are mounted so low, they had to cut a lovely slot into the chassis:

Here is the dull gray motor mount I mentioned earlier, it has a sandblasted finish instead of a satin blue finish - nevertheless, a beautiful piece of casting:

With the mount in the chassis, there's quite a contrast between metal and plastic:

I noticed that the stock Johnson motor sticked out the left side quite abit, here's a pic with the Tamiya RZ stock 23T motor. There is a plastic guard which goes round the endbell for protection:

I did not find any problems fitting the latest IB3800 cells into the chassis:

I mentioned earlier that the chassis felt stiffer than the TB02, I'm not sure if it's because Tamiya molded the TA05 tub from graphic-reinforced plastic .....>PA-GF< wat does it mean ?

Checking my TB02R tub, I see .....>PC< does that means polycarbonate ?

Okay, so far so good.... but here's a bummer ! if you're one of those who reuse your steering servo amoung your other cars. The TA05 requires you to cut half the lug off on one side of the steering servo in order to fit.

Me ? .....I normally dun remove the steering servo from the car unless it's faulty. so not a problem for me !

Okay, sorry gotta stop now as I dun have anymore file storage space to post anymore pics.

Cheerio !
