Not enough people showed up to race tonight, but I did get a bit of practice in - I think I ran about 8 packs in the car.

Likes:
Smooth drivetrain. I like the smoothness of the diffs especially.
Aggressive steering. Much tighter than my TC3.
Easy driveability.

Dislikes:
Shocks. Non-threaded shocks make it tough to adjust for fine-tuning on carpet. (Anyone have some TRF shocks for cheap? )

I definitely like the smooth feel of the car over my TC3, but some of that has to do with 64p gearing instead of 48p. Once it was tuned for the track it was very consistent around the entire track.
The only thing I think I'll change for next week is to put a quicker servo in the car and possibly try cyan/magenta for foams.

First week verdict: I like it

It should only get better from here.

Well after using the new chassis last night, I can officially confirm that even on carpet(where tweak is apparently more important than driving well), the chassis works excellent.

I noticed a clear improvement in how the car reacted in corners. I always felt like the car had kind of a "rubberband" effect in the turns. Where it would go in, scrub some speed, then spring out of the turn. Now, with only the suspension and not the chassis twisting, giving traction to the car, the cornering was altogether more smooth. There was no scrubing and the best way to describe the new handling was "sharp!"

I would suggest that the people worried about tweak at least give the chassis a try. Honestly, on the track, it doesn't show.

Yep, definately a BIG improvement, with no issues with the slight twist in the chassis. My car felt even better than the stock chassis with the TECH upper deck. This car rocks!

All I have to say is this is one AWESOME car. I put together my son's TA05 he won at the Trackside TCS race and only added an extra set of TRF shocks. Ran the car box stock (other than the shocks) with 50 oil in front and 40 oil in back with white springs in front and blue in back and this car was dialed. Watching my 9 year old son driving the car it looked very balanced. He drove it to a b main win at the last race of the Hurricane Allstar Series race. Can't wait to add all the hopups that Tamiya is sending as part of the grand prize raffle.

but does anyone have the part number for the new tamiya tuned springs? they all come in white, but have small paint dots that lets you tell them apart (blue, yellow, red, etc)

NoOoOoOoOoOoOOoO!! dont give Sherm any more "go fast" stuff.

Sherm.. you dont need that dude. you need the drag in your TA05 belts. the friction will give you more initial turn in.. yah thats it.

this is what i get for not racing for the past month.
