The Ta05 should be legal for nats if the kit is in the tamiya Warehouse the first week of August. Or that is what I was told by a very powerful person within the TCS.

Well, I think the car looks sweet. I just might have to add to my own sig I do like all the alloy bits shown in those pics. Its nice to see them trying it with the LW suspension. I only hope to have enough time on it if it is legal for nats.

Typically a R version has the Alum shocks, and a lot of hop ups.
No word on a R version yet, some picks though have been seen

Its already legal. Checked the rules for updates and they have new battery info and list the ta05 for gt1,2,3.

General rule of thumb for Tamiya kits.

1.) Introduce new car. Sell lots, plus tons of hop-ups to make real competitive.
2.) 8-12 months later as sales slow down, introduce -R version. Includes about half the hop-ups. Great way to save some $$ over stock kit + all hop-ups.
3.) 18-24 months later, when sales are dieing down, introduce TRF version with ALL the hop-ups. Much cheaper than buying kit and all hop-ups seperately. Generally a sign they will be coming out with a new and improved kit in the next 12-18 months.

Editiors note: This is purely my opinion, but probably very close.

It's called marketing.

Default TA05 "R" VERSION!

I was thinking about getting the kit and I realize I probably have enough parts from my 415,414, and 04 to come up with an "R" version. All I will need is the MS kit to make the conversion complete! Geeeeeez!!! I should invest in Tamiya stock for all the parts I carry in my warehouse, I mean garage!

Neil, Looks like most of the hop ups are getting released with the car, only ones that are not are the carbon towers, and they will be only a few weeks behind.

I ask again, is this car going to be competitive or is it just a collectors car? I like the layout and everything. So yeah... I'd rather not wait an extra year just to get the Ta05 with all hopups. How much would it cost to fairly equip the TA05 stock with aluminum parts?

Well, the TA-04 has been around for how long, and still seems to have an advantage over the TB-02 (in TCS races around here, at least, with the sport-tuned motor gearing), so I can only think the TA05 will be the next "have" car, being more balanced and easier to maintain, a poor-man's 415 (or 416?) so to speak?

Just buy the One-ways, sway bar set, and some decent dampers/springs, and really it's good to go.. thankfully they've included a metal motor mount this time, unlike the TB-02... that plastic one didn't last too long...

The Universals, graphite shock towers, high precision diff (?), and transverse heatsink seem to be releasing 2 weeks later (In Japan, at least...July 16th). The rest is all available with the kit's release.

They say the Titanium screw set is Limited Edition... how limited will it be? Are those the blue ones in the pics?
Would you have to just buy the separate screw packages after the fact? How much does a full set set you back?
