Default 17.5 Racing Batteries

I race 17.5 and was wondering is there a certain type of battery thats best for this class as in the the c rating and brand and also whats the best charger and way to charge them to get the best out of them ready to race.

Thanks
Andrew

I run Fantom, SMC, and Protek batteries without any problems. The best way to charge them is whatever you can get away with, more amps. Banning that, run the same battery every heat. Don't swap batteries in your cars. They'll get faster as the day goes on.

Well I must say that according to the YouTube battery testers, the best batteries are: Fantom 7800mah, Turnigy graphene&ultimate 7500mah, Trackpower 6800mah(a long time ago).... I am sure there are others, but I always check out Nick Adams' channel and others to see if a new pack outperformed the previous best pack out there...
Personally though, I run Thunderpower packs(2700mah to 5300mah) win or lose, but their performance never let me down so far. I charge them with my thunderpower 1430C charger at 12amps(no discharge) everytime, but I still have alot to learn to get the best out of them.
Nowadays, the top racers are really using the icharger 406duo to charge and discharge(with a 40amp resistor) their packs, but battery life might suffer...I'd rather focus on losing rotational mass instead to gain acceleration&top speed...

The R1 7600 is very nice pack and os far don't puff.
10 race days on ours with 5-6 charges a day and still perfectly flat .

Over four years with my TP batteries with no puffing, and no performance loss.....
Out of the new bunch, I would pick the Fantom 7800+mah cells...just sayin.....

I'm happy with the SMC "Race Formula Extreme 7.4V 6000mAh 100C". It has very low voltage drop and is really affordable, too.

80% of the lipos are relabeled IP Lipos, order directly from them and save $$$$ for the same exact battery, some may have different lipo cases but is all the same

Agreed, I use one of those in my TRF 417 & I'm very pleased with it, I think it's all the battery I need(if there's a better one for punch, I'm not sure I'd even be able to make that much use of it, I'm far from a perfect driver, & usually, with any small edge in battery, ONE bad hit on a barrier will generally erase whatever edge it had)....

I've found the Nanotech Ultimate 7500 packs to be really good, if you can save weight the 6000 packs are 20 grams lighter. They also seem to run cooler than the Graphene packs.

My I personally had the best luck with scorpion battery for both performance, weight balance I needed, and price. I think most batteries are pretty much ordered from a few Chinese manufactures anyways and the top shelves are very similar in terms of overall performance. I had good experience with nanotech ultimate 6600 and 7500. Those two have good punch and don't cost too much. R1 6000 4mm bullet older packs is a great overall performer. r1 6200 new 5mm bullet ones are really light weight and great power for 5 minutes. r1 8000 is heavy but has great power and punch. But for me scorpion 6200 has the best balance of power, weight, and longevity for me.

Nanotech 6000mah are great batteries! Last long and even performence. They are cheap and got nice weight transfer that might help your cornering.

If you are racing stock you want to charge you batteries with a balancer and should charge it to 8.4Volt. As your peak performence will be at 8.4V and a cool motor, you should get your fastest laps the first 2 or 3 laps and then it will heat up and loose some speed.

Enjoy and visit Www.andrefossto.wordpress.com for other info you might need!
