Lightbulb Why 2WD?

Why would you drop the four wheel and run rear wheel drive if the 4WD works well, that'd be a step backwards to me?

Who sells the bodies besides Tamiya? I saw a vintage F1 ferrari on a 201 that was stunning - from the 80s when the driver sat forward and it was all motor - ?

Gotta try this chassis - looks like a BMI TC3 combo using f201 bolt up parts

The major selling point of F1 (the tamiya anyways) is that its a realistic replica other than the 4wd aspect. Atleast that is why I am interested in it. (plus all the other cars that I know about are pan 2wd).

If you weighed all the items you could remove from the car for 2wd chances are you would make up any lost time in gearing.. and without that weight in the front it should react faster. You would only be losing the ability to slam into somebody under braking as it would force you to drive.

on a side note if there was a way to get a one-way bearing in the center you could keep the brakes but ditch the power. Now.. if only you could set the brake bias.

Well old timers like us started out running 2wd it was all that was out there it came down to the driver not the car LOL. J/K

I like 4wd cars but I love 2wd the most for an F1 cars anyway.

pan is ok but we are building a full active suspension car kinda like the F201 but rear wheel drive well there is more to it than that but you will see, also the Nitro .12 or .15 powered F1 car in the months to come, I have been designing these things for years now I an going to build them my self.

Thank you

Marty, I haven't seen the F201 up close and the pics are a bit dark. I am wondering why you can't move the batteries closer to center? Is it not enough space for the saddle pack configuration to slide in?

Just curious.

Mason fo a saddle pack set up the battery will pass under the chassis but to bring then in closer to the center it can't be done the way the car is set up at this time the servo and motor get in the way.

See this all started out when I was running a nitro touring last summer everyone at the track were talking about the F201 chassis and what it was lacking well everyone knew I race and make chassis and move stuff around all the time for my liking so I looked at the car in its stock form and said I could come up with something and this was it first it was a stock chassis replacement then they wanted this and that well here it is in its final form and everyone love the way it works

Hey, check that out... talk about service with a smile!!!

If I have something like that 'custom' made by you, what kind of a price would I be looking at? Or would you take the idea and produce several runs of them and offer them for sale on your website?

I too would be interested in a side-by-side format for this chassis. One of the main reasons my F201 sits now is because I can't use any of my normal battery packs. If I could just keep all my cells in side-by-side format, I'd be much happier!
