Default Jaco Foams v's Ellegi's & Others

I am planning on attending our Australian on-road electric nats later in the year and trying to work out what Foams are best to use on a new asphalt surface.

Of course I will ask the locals what they prefer to run, but i'd really like to know what the difference is between the Jaco's that are run by lots of drivers on the Carpet and others like Ellegi's TRC etc.

Do Jaco's work equally as well as the Ellegi's and TRC's on Asphalt? Do people prefer to run any particular foam for any reason?

I am thinking running the Jaco 28mm wide foams front and back would make the car easier to setup when coming from a rubber tire backgroud as the tires are the same width front to back, whereas something like the Ellegi's are 26mm front and 30mm rear (besides, the 30mm rear is illegal locally also..)

Any thoughts? Or am I stark-raving mad?

Outdoors on an electric in Aus, you probably want to stick to 26mm wide rears all round as a starting point. UFRA are excellent tires and you should give them a shot. Also, experiment in a few meetings with different brands/compounds to find the tyre you like best.

Problem is we only run rubber tires here locally and any use is restricted to practice only..

Who sells UFRA in Aus other than Bradd? (he isnt keen on sending interstate, understandably)

You might want to try BSR tires. They have a full line of asphalt touring tires. http://www.bsr-racing.com/foam/touring.html

Custom Model Cars is the importer of UFRA tyres and has been for many years, give them a ring.
