Default t2 007 help

First off, I'm an off road guy, so I'm not new to the hobby, just on road. I got a 007 for a smoking deal that I couldn't pass. I'm mostly looking for a base set up for med traction carpet with sorex 28r tires. It has a one way in the front and something in the back thats doing nothing, right now its a 2 way I think its a ball diff. I got pretty much a race ready package for less then half of what its worth so I figure I'd give it a try instead of selling it. I'll be going through the car tomorrow and wiring it all up with my RS (the sphere tc spec isn't blinkyable, I'll be running 17.5 blinky) and putting my 2.4 radio in it (instead of the pcm 3pk) so I'll be sure to post pics once she's all race ready

When running an xray , always use the kit setup initially - they get you within the ballpark...........

I'm looking for a more modern set up as I won't be using NiMh batteries

Thanks

I saw the 007 thread, but I wasn't going to go through a bazillion pages to try finding a recent set up. Non of the pros have ran the car for 5 years so I couldn't find a modern set up on the xray database.

You can find T2 007 set up sheets without problems on the Xray forum, from Martin Hudy, Grosskamp, LeMieux,.... By "modern" you probably refer to LiPO/brushless, but it will work very good for you or at least be a very good starting point.

One thing I would change soon is the one way in the front. Unless you totally trust the other racers around you and you don't need any break at your track it could give you a hard time. A spool will be easier to drive. I still use a T2 009 and will try to put the setup sheet on here. It should give you something to go off.

I still run an 07-w/13.5 and aside from adding weight to balance the car find any
current setup for the t2 platform still has the same effects on the cars handling.
Def get rid of the oneway You might be able to lock the oneway to make it a spool.

To run Lipo with the 007 chassis your going to need to raise the top deck 1mm. Also dremel off some of the rear bulkhead...

Or run a saddle pack with the rear half spaced out a few millimeters.

Running a oneway is tricky, running a spool needs ECS (depending on class, true, but generally speaking you'll have more maintenance if not using ECS). Gear diffs from later models can be used.

Thanks guys. I'll look into making the one way into a spool, I think its a multi diff but don't know what involved yet. It seems like everyone is running spools these days, but why does no one run one ways any more like it used to be? it seems like spols came in when brushless did, but what was the big differance? Do the T3 diffs drop right in if I wanted to get the gear diff and spool (no, I won't buy them new, not worth it for a 6 year old car before someone else points that out )?

Spec R makes a 34t gear diff for an xray that works perfect, if you get one for the rear start with 800 or 1000 weight diff oil. If you end up liking the car you could make it a little more lipo friendly by getting the exotek chassis and top deck, which allows the battery to mount tighter to the center as well as more consistent flex. Oh and why would a pros setup from 5yrs back not work now? The differences in motor and battery tech don't have anything to do with how the chassis is setup other than weight distribution and that is why you have the lead weights.

T3 diffs do not work in the 06-07. Only down to 08...I suggest lurking through the Xray forum like urabusdenis mention. You will find all the answers to all your questions, most likely.

like 1 post says, the diffs won't drop in, but they can be used. I have a 007 foam chassis, and i modified the chassis, ie cut the lower plate, to use the diffs. you will also need to buy different belts if you were to put those in.

What chassis do you have, foam or rubber? i can share my setup if you wish to see it. I run vta w/ it.

let me know, PM me.
