TRF 415 front uprights?
 

Does anybody know if there are any aluminum front uprights for the Tamiya TRF 415?
Also, if not, where can i found them to buy?
I want to order 3-4 spares as i always brake them!
I have checked somewhere but out of stock.
Any ideas?

Is this for the stock TA04-based suspension or for the EvoIV/Lightweight suspension??

GPM makes a TA04-based upright...and Square makes one for the EvoIV-based suspension


I know the big thing I've broken with the EvoIV-based, is the steering knuckles (referred to as the front upright)...And Square makes an aluminum alternative...I'd check out Speedtechrc.com - I know steve usually has them in

I thought that the 415 used the same suspension as the older TA04s and things like that, so you just need to get an equivalent aluminium upright. I'm pretty sure that Eagle and Square make them too and when doing a bit of research on part numbers, etc, you can't pass Rainbow Ten for their service and stock availability.

Ah, joys of the lightweight suspension. All of the parts are made lighter to reduce weight (including a smaller bearing). I am building a TB02-R right now and NOT using the lightweight suspension because I am only a sportsman level driver and thus, do crash. The lightweight suspension is not happy in these situations.

Since this suspension is so new, doubtful if anyone has a knuckle to replace it, also due to the smaller odd size bearing Tamiya is using in this kit. Steve at www.speedtechrc.com is probably your best beat to check. He carries the stock EVO IV front knuckles but is out of stock right now. The Tamiya P/N is 51103.

I'm an Evo IV owner. Trust me, these arms can take a BEATING. I hadn't broken 1 arm at all after the first 7 months of use. The uprights do break, and therefore you need to get the Square Uprights for the LW suspension. They are great and I got mine from Rainbow Ten. Almost ALWAYS in stock too. :D :D

Only had about 2 950 bearings seize on me since I got my car in late July. I'd highly recommend you try the LW suspension, especially if you race on asphalt. If you race on carpet, the old style may be the go from what I've heard, but there aren't any carpet tracks where I race so I personally can't confirm that.

I've run both types of suspension on my EvoIII...

Lightweight...First qualifer - tapped the outer boards and shattered the suspension arm and the hinge pin...2nd qualifer - tapped another board, broke the steering knuckle (upright)

Regular suspension (TA04-TRF415-based)...Whacked the boards full force - not even a bent hinge pin!! :)

I think I agree, the LW suspension blows for indoors, but should be nice outside on asphalt - that's why I have a 2nd evoIII for outdoors...

Capone - I'd try either speedtechrc or rc-mart (dinball)...both should have aluminum uprights for both types of suspensions...
