Default Interesting thread.....

I'm running on a track where from what I understand CS27's would be the way to go (I'm currently running Yokomo 138G in 540 stock and all seems good)...

Would running Sorex 36R cause to many problems you think as I'd like something that lasts a little longer?

The hottest temps around here still don't usually go above say 28'c....30 (air temp) on a really hot day.

Both would be nice

Just wondering how the harder tire might go given the same setup.

You won't need setup changes if you change tires due to weather changes. But changing hardness on the same day will get loose if you go up in hardness and get tight if you go down

Thanks for the info. Will stick with what works or it's equivalent then.

With a 7x1 Orion motor in my car the first 4 runs on CS27's are basically identical in lap time. From runs 5 through 8 the tires slow down a tenth or two per lap. After that they fall off more and aren't worth practicing on anymore.

RP's last about half as long as CS tires but they are faster.

Sorex tires last one run and that it. They are 2-3/10ths slower per lap on the 2nd run.

This of course is in Florida with our brutal coral base asphalt. I hear out west Sorex last longer than around here. Asphalt out west is gravel/pebble based.

Default Tire life

Does using traction compound decrease the life of the tire?

thanks adrian. you say after 4 laps the cars fall of within lap times may i ask why? is it because of loss of foward traction? or does the car get very loose/twitchy towards the 9th run?

cheers in advance

With ALL tires when they wear the car start to push. Its subtle at first and some guys try to alter setups to get steering back but this is a waste of time. No matter what you do to your car it wont be as fast as it was during the first 4 runs on new tires.

Note that this is on asphalt. On carpet CS tires last FOREVER.

The new Yokomo tires are C27 not CS27. They are not the same. This is Yokomo's attempt to cash in the massively popular CS27 name.

That said, Yokomo tires are usually pretty good.

If you want to try them SpeedtechRC.com will probably be the only place in North America to get them.
