Default Getting back into the hobby / help needed with speedo selection

Hi guys,

I am getting back into the hobby and could really use some help in selecting a new speedo for my 1/12th scale car. I was using the Mtroniks "cube" and loved the linear feel but the speedo is deader than a door nail and I am finding myself a bit out of touch with what the faster guys are running. I will be using it for both stock as well as mod down to about an 10 tripple if this helps.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

P.S. I also posted this under the "racing" forum so please don't shoot me, I am in a rush to get this ordered to make a particular race in my area.

Thanks again!

The GTX and LRP Quantum 2 are the most popular, both have 5 turn motor limits, but are more expensive.

Thanks guys.. Money isn't really a factor at this point, I just want something smooth and liner that's small and I really appreciate all of the great advice. Thanks again!

Someone has to suggest the KO VSF-1 Pro, therefore:

I suggest the KO VSF-1 Pro. It's tiny, and if you get the multi-setting device included, very adjustable. Mine so far also seems bullet-proof, unlike certain other ESC's, namely the QC2.

I also think it looks pretty cool, being black and all. If you prefer other colors, I believe Tamiya and Hara also sell Pink and Blue versions.

Josh

P.S. - Who better to give you speedo advice than someone named Speedo?

Yes, I know what you mean Speedo.. I had an LRP Quantum a while back and after getting popped a few times it started opening! Needless to say I got on the phone with Billy Easton and they replaced it. That's when I opted to try the Mtronics and ended up liking it... but it didn't last too long before frying.

The Tekin G10 should be on the list.

Almost Right.....GM is infact the smallest, but it is the SX12 that is the smallest of all esc and works perfectly for Masami Hirosaki 2004 World Champion 12th scale...Good enough for him. Your darn tootin' it is good enough for me.
Kinda a pain to change programs unless you have a GM Commander charger. But I have two of those so not really a big deal.
Hope this helps.
here is the link to Masami's car from the worlds, yes the purple heat sink is the SX12.

I appreciate everyones input. Small is good, but a good linear "feel" to me is more important than footprint. From the responses I have seen it definitely has made things easlier. Thanks!

Gotta throw in a vote for the Tekin G10 pro+.

Its not as small on paper as some of the others listed. But in reality, after you add the HUGE power caps and Schottky diodes those speedcontrols need to run the really hot motors, its just as small, easier to install, and more userfriendly.

And you'll find nothing out there smoother and easier to tune.

Thanks for everyones input.. I really appreciate it. I have narrowed the field down to the KO VSF-1 Pro or the GM v12xc.

So this doesn't become a popularity contest. Can anyone tell me of pros or cons that they can think of between these two?

Thanks again!
