heats were setup by rocket round NOT QUAL POINTS like the track owner wanted, like jlap wanted....
this was a roar director desision based on people running slow in the upper mains due the fast guys having one hard qualifer. now this is against the spirit of qual points which give the more consistant driver an advantage. please discuss amoungst yourselves....

The qualifers were re-sorted correctly in my opinion.

The idea is to put the fast cars together to create cleaner qualifying heats with drivers of similar speeds. Taking a driver's fastest round accomplishes this best.

Accoriding to ROAR rules, "the re-sort must be based on each driver's single best qual points round..."

Hi Dawn,

I agree, that Mod Motor Rules do not state, as the Stock Motor Rules do, that they need to be available to everyone when they are used in competition (after approval). It seems you could do anything with a mod motor except violate the general electric motor rules in section 8.4.

However, here is what the Brushless Mod Motor Rules say - (from the recently released form on ROAR's site)

" f) A minimum of two thousand (2000) brushless motors must be available at the time of approval. A minimum of three hundred (300) brushless motors must have been sold to at least three (3) distributors or hobby shops or OEM’s at the time of submittal. The manufacturer has to provide an address of a hobby shop or the like, that any driver who wishes to obtain these motors at the time of the approval can do so. No hybrid (mixing of parts from approved brushless motors) allowed."

So does that mean ANY type of brushless motor could be sold, and then they can use prototypes at the races? Have the protorypes been submitted and approved? The word "prototype" seems preclude the general public from obtaining those motors, so I don't think they were sold to hobby shops, distributors etc.

It seems prototype Brushless Mod Motors are illegal the way that rule reads.

The mod motor rules, do state they must be commerically available....

Dawn, before you attempt to quote the rules, PLEASE know them....

This applies to ALL brushed motors....

8.4.3 MOTOR APPROVAL PROCEDURE:

8.4.3.1 Only manufacturers, distributors or commercial-level motor tuners may submit motors for approval.

8.4.3.2 Samples of new motors should be submitted to the ROAR Technical Administrator and motor laboratory for approval prior to actual production.

8.4.3.3 Once passed by the laboratory, approval will be granted when proof is submitted that a minimum of 5,000 stock motors, or 2,000 modified motors have been produced and are available for sale in the USA and Canada.

8.4.3.4 Contact the ROAR Technical Administrator or ROAR Administrator for more information on the approval process and fees.

8.4.3.5 If an approved motor is changed in a substantial way, such as: can color, orientation of the brushes, end bell color or configuration, or date stamp; it must be resubmitted for approval. This includes any internal changes to the armature or commutator.

8.4.3.6 All approved motors are subject to spot-checking at any time by the ROAR Technical Administrator to verify that they are still in compliance with ROAR specifications.

Now please tell me where this is confusing.....

The STOCK rule you are quoting applies to the use of cars, parts, etc on a car entered in the stock class, aka, its no legal to use a prototype car, which is why you see the XRAY stock drivers still using the OLD car.....this requires any part, etc be commercially available 14 days prior to the event.
