Recently, I have had a setup with my T4 that felt too twitchy, the car felt too quick at changing direction, the car was setup with kit settings, minus the rear roll bar and 1k rear oil, grease up front but I am wondering if changing from the grease to 500,000 hudy oil front, 3,000 rear will help slow the rotation down?

Grip levels are high (indoor carpet).

I currently use 0 degree front toe, kit rear, 60wt front oil, 45 rear.

Am I right in this line of thinking?

I run 42 shore foams on the front, 40 shore rear (26mm) with cs grip foam additive.

If this doesn't tame the car down on its rotation, what other changes do people suggest?

Harder front shock springs? And different ones on the rear too?

Many thanks

PS, my kit came with the closed bearing layshaft parts if that is likely to make any difference, but I doubt it very much?

I was always under the impression that thicker oil in the rear diff increases steering because you're loosening up the rear. Sounds like you need to tighten the car up a bit.

I know I felt my car get twitchier when using thicker rear diff oil.

Default RX4 - T4 w/ new RSD Chassis - Indoor Carpet SETUP

I recently put a RSD chassis on my t4 and have had great results. shaved 3-4 tenths consistently off my best laps with the regular t413. I highly recommend this chassis. Here is my setup for a 96x50 indoor carpet track in houston... med grip.

RSD Chassis for T4 set up Indoor Carpet

Ride ht 5.0 f, 5.2 r
Droop 2.0 ORH f&r

2.5m gravity rc front diff in front, specr double jointed front shafts

F shocks 32.5 wt, RSD Orange (xray 2.9) could try 2.7 xray too
R shocks 30.0 wt, RSD Pink (xray 2.5) could try 2.5-2.8 xray

camber 1.75 front, 2.5 rear
camber link middle front, shortest rear

1.4 f sway bar, 1.2 r sway bar

Reedy 17.5 mach2 motor
FDR 3.88
battery tabs rear

-15% expo on steering
+10% expo on throttle

sorex 28 tires
sauced 20mins prior f & r

Thanks for posting. I'm considering this chassis for my 17.5 T4. Just bought 2 of them a little over a month ago but haven't been able to run them yet. Our onroad season starts on Oct 19th. So I wanted to run them at least once with the regular T4 chassis. I'll probably leave my mod car with the stock chassis though.

I run on a track with slight undulations in it, in 13.5 it's fine but you notice the bumps more in Mod.
I don't think I'd be running 2.9 springs all round if it's bumpy.

it's a combination of all three. as the track heats up it ripples, the joins aren't the best.

I should have said I run 2.7 springs and 21.5.

Did you follow the Reflex suggested roll center inserts? I got a sheet that suggested to use inserts with the stock Xray setup.

Perhaps going up 50 or 100Cst just to compensate for the temp thinning out the shock oil.
Might also be worth trying 1000-2000 in the rear diff as well.

I can't suggest anything more really as I haven't had a chance to use those tyres.

Want a thin, stiff bumper optimized for the T4? Our foam tire friends at John's BSR bring their new bumper

I just finished my build. I followed the instructions to a "t". the suggested inserts gives you 3 degrees of toe on the rear and the widest front end. I think it was the #1 insert closest to the tire in the front and the #2 insert inboard in the rear. it also calls for 1mm spacer under the suspension blocks, which reflex says is slightly higher than Xrays stock version. Hopefully I can get this car on the track this weekend and put it thru a full day of practice.

It's not that optimized!
I'll stick with the $12.95 xray hard bumper. 2 minutes with a belt sander and it's golden.

Well, I tried stock set up from X-ray with the RSD chassis and the car had LOADS more steering. On our track, it was too much to handle... so, I stiffened the car up, took away some camber, added some front roll, and finally dialed in some negative steering expo and viola... Dialed! Maybe u can try both set ups, I'd be interested to see which one u like better. Good luck!

I'm not sure what you mean by this. How did you add "front roll"?
