Default Help me build a TC4 Club Racer for speed!

I want to buy a club racer for top speed runs.

I want to stay on a low budget.

I want the car to do at least 60mph.

Can you recommend a motor/ESC combo and the correct gearing to go along with it?

Thanks!

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

The TC4 club racer is a bad start if you want to build a car for all out speed. A modern belt drive car would be better because the belt drive is more efficent.

Speed and Budget are 2 words that just don't go together. You will need a high end speed control, something that will handle a 3.5 turn motor. Also you will need the smallest spur/biggest pinion that will fit in the car, and that means modifying the TC4 chassis.

60mph really isn't that hard to get too, especially since you are not building it to a spec class, you can use a speedo that supports 3s lipos and a 4.5 mod motor will get you there as long as it stays together. You can get over 60mph with 2s, but it takes some tuning, the 3s would make it easier. I imagine that keeping the gears from stripping might be an issue though

The aluminum shaft will wobble alot at 50+mph, but it can be done with steel outdrives only in the rear, foam Tires(preferrably nitro), and shim your diffs tight.... I think 80mph is the real challenge instead of 60mph... I say get a tekin RX8 esc, and run as many as 6S in your Car...lol.. Good luck.....

As far as motor, I think a 2.5t tekin will do just fine.... There is One guy that did run a 2.5t on 3S, and got 84.2mph on youtube...good luck....

Modified touring cars hit 60 all the time with 2s.

Modified touring cars were hitting 60 with 5 cell nimh batteries 5 years ago. And remember, the TC4 was NOT designed to run that much motor. My guess is it will come apart on you after a handful of passes.

guys have ran tc4's up to the 140's, shaft drive is more efficient then a belt... id stick with a mamba monster esc and a 4s setup, maybe start with the 3800kv 4 pole

google isc speed challenge you should be able to find plenty of info, if not sign up and ask.

i've got a 2wd drive dragster we're getting mid 80's out of on 1s, like anyone else i know that runs high speed cars expect to spend some money and be able to not accept defeat...
