Thanks.

Just waiting for the kit to come from RCMart. I was hoping it'd arrive today so I could build over the weekend.

Can't wait to get going!

The design uses a pile of those set screws!
Good luck with your build.

Id get a second set of ballstuds if its in your budget. Then you can play with swaybar position on the arms.

The spec r r1 has been a good car so far. My 12 year old son has been driving it for the last 8 months in VTA type class on carpet and asphalt.
He has broken front suspension assembly, front bumper holder, and front drive shaft.
Not bad at all, considering how hard and frequently he crashed.

I have managed to lose only the flat head screw washer on the center pulley axle along the way.

For about $300 I would say it is a good product.

Default just thinking...

Ya know, I'm studying the R1 manual and looking at what is included in the "Pro" kit.

I'm not finding a single weakness in the design, or anyrthing that's missing from the current crop of "top shelf" sedan kits.

I don't get it...why is this kit less than $300.00? Why wouldn't it be just as compettitive as, say, an Xray? Ya gotta give somehting better than "because it's an Xray." And why don't I stroll of to TQ and order a couple three for that price?

Is the plastic or other materials sub-par? Even if it's half decent, these things should be flying out of stock.

no advertising, no sponsoring big names. probably not as extensive r&d. but a solid car for your average racer.

Plastic is much better on Xray. Stronger and more precise. And spec r r1 ball stud gave me a problem during assembly while T4 assembly had no issues. The dampers are no match. T4 dampers are almost leak proof whereas r1 dampers squeak after a while.
CVD are much higher quality on Xray.

Plastic on this is inconsistant. Suspensions are great but ballcups and other stuff not great. Metal parts arent as strong. Ive never ever broken a hingpin on a serpent or xray.

I dont have cf parts but i liked the aluminum parts though the red finish can be scratched off pretty easily during assembly.
So id say the finish quality isnt as good but overall function is quite good.
If your the type of racer who just wants to put a car down and have confidence with little fiddling or adjustment id say get an xray. Thiscar out if he box took some love during assembly and setup.

Its a great car but lacks some of the refinement. It would be like comparing an american car to a german one heh.

Your link doesn't work. It takes me to my own eBay selling page.

In my build of 2 spec-r S1 cars:
- I had 1 shock where the bottom end would leak. I replaced all the o-rings and spacers and such and it still would not stop. Filled it with green slime and that fixes it.
- I also had 1 gear diff that would not stop leaking around the pulley. the other one I was able to prep and put together with no leaking at all.
- Fit and finish would be less than xray for sure.
It is a sound design for hundreds less. The only marketing is forums like this. there are a few people running them at big events like 'snowbirds' and having good results. I am very happy with mine. I built a complete RTR touring car for the price of an xray chassis.

I’ve had a problem with the tops of my S1 shocks loosening off. First time I caught it in time, but yesterday it ended a heat for me. I’m happy to upgrade to the metal shock bodies. Are they a direct swap with the plastic S1 bodies?
