You can use stock ballcups, but you have to use grease (like greenslime) when you screw them on. put some grease into the ball cup with the driver and forget about popping off.

Well all carbon fiber chassis are laminates. Are you asking if the chassis is carbon fiber laminate over another material? I looked at Spec R's web site and they say "carbon graphite"...??? Carbon fiber and graphite are both made of carbon, but I have no clue as to the what Spec R used, or if it's carbon fiber laminated over graphite? If you Google carbon graphite chassis you see chassis that look like all the others. And when i think a true graphite chassis I think of a XXX-S.
But I have no clue

The R1 chassis seem to look dull compared to like X-ray, Associated and Yokomo chassis's... I've heard of G10 fiberglass laminated to a carbon base sheet.

Hello
Has any body tried the new black Ball studs? I purchased them because the red ones feel a bit soft, I found the thread is a little wider, any body else found this?

To get the chassis stiffness you would need the fiberglass to be thicker. And they are now offering a 2.2mm chassis and fiberglass would be way to flexible at that thickness. But I could be wrong...
As for the cost I think that has to do more with how they setup distribution as much as if not more so than the quality of the parts. Also the cost of the chassis is the same as a TC6 chassis and that's carbon fiber...
