I am surprised SpecR or the retailers haven't just sent out a Velcro strap that works. It was the only dud in my R1 kit and it would have been nice to just have it sorted

For the layshaft, I am using the white spur gears. The white shims did not work. I used a c combination of 1 white shim and 1 black shim. I added a 2mm shim before to the outside of the shaft then inserted the screw. It fits perfect and works great.

Jeff when you change diff oils do you put a new gasket on each time? Or re-use the same one?

Does anybody know, if the "3Racing SSK 52mm Driveshaft for T3" (#T3-01) fits the S1?

According to the manuals, the R1 has 52mm Driveshafts at the front, but the S1 only 50mm Driveshafts? How can this be?

Regards from Germany,

Chris

yes they will work. any xray drivetrain parts will work except for the lashaft and center pulleys.

I sanded the side that fits inside the other and kept dry fitting with the oring and the gasket. Once i got it to the correct depth, no more light between the halves, I built it, inserted the screws. Initially the screws were too tight and bound the diff up. Backed the screws off 1/4 to relieve the pressure and it works like butter with no leakage. I also purchased a spec r Gear diff separately for the front and did not have the same problem. It went together perfectly. I think the mold for the parts in the R1 are off in size and make the 1 diff half too large.
Worked a treat

I pulled the diff apart (left the gasket in) removed the oil, o-ring and internal (spider?) gears and sanded the "male" side of the diff down until the two halves would sit together without any gap.
I made sure I cleaned out the mess from sanding (oil + plastic shavings might bind the gears maybe).
Reassembled with oil and o-ring and no leaks

Thanks again.

Anybody know what the included oil's equivalent is for the shock and diff? It comes with #500 and #1000. 40wt?50wt? etc....

Thanks!
