Received my TQ order #2 today with a new lower front bumper to replace the one that shattered last race. I splurged for Christmas and grabbed the R1 motor mount while I was placing an order and it all went together great.
I'm still using the stock S1 plastic bushings and plastic spacers and I have just a tick of play in the center spool which is perfect. I have the flanged bearings but haven't felt the need to use them. Maybe I did something right, or inadvertently wrong but there is virtually no slop.
I did have to remember to add the 1mm spacers on top of the R1 motor mount.

It all depends on the brand of spur gear that you use

Just recently purchased the R1. It is a great car, easy to drive and durable. I'm glad I made the purchase .

Hi all. I just finished putting together my new S1 that I got for Christmas. I plan on using it for my new Spec/VTA car. It is replacing my old TC3. Anyway my question is what Spur/Pinion combo would you guys recommend. I want to use 64 pitch gears and I need my FDR to be around 3.5. We use Novak 25.5 motors at my club. I did some quick math and a 88 Spur / 48 Pinion would be about right. But it is hard to tell what combo would fit correctly - also what brand of Spur gear do I need? Anyone have some experience with this situation? Thanks in advance for any info!

Is it correct that the 52mm driveshaft goes in front and the 50mm driveshaft for the rear? This makes the trackwidth in front longer than the rear. 186mm front, 183 rear. Is it really like that? Thanks.

Contrary to popular belief wider isn't always better (Remember that Pontiac AD). Most TCs are moving to this trend But yes the rears take the 50mm and 52mm fronts. I did this to my T3 and where it does make the car harder to drive it allows for more stability at higher speeds during cornering. My R1 with this setup is great.
