I'm currently running a 56t pinion, its a pain to get the pinion on. And the smallest spur I could fit is a 78, I'm sure you could fit a bigger pinion. I'm sure you could get down to a 2 fdr if you wanted.

What weight of oil are you running? What I found with some of my early runs with the r1 is, that the car started to break away about four minutes in. Was running 1000 w, now am running 2000 w and no problem. Hope this helps.

I'm running 2000 Losi oil on asphault, could it be thinning during the run?

I am also running 3000wt. I've noticed more stability and forward bite with this oil on carpet.

I think the need for "thicker" oils in the diff is due to how free the gear diff runs with the bearings in the diff halves. Meaning that to get a similar feeling from the diff compared to others, we are having to run thicker.
If you compare it to how "tight" my Tc6.1 diff was, where we were running 800cst...

As an alternate idea.. Did you make sure when assembling the Diff that it was shimmed properly before adding fluid? IE; Build the diff without fluid, giv it several turns and then lock one side and try to spin the other to see if the gears slip? Obviously with composite gears you need to be careful not to strip them by force but also make sure they aren't slipping on their own. I felt mine was too loose so I added an extra shim to both sides of my Diff and it runs smoothly and feels great. I don't recall the exact sizes I used in mine, I think it was one .2mm and one .1mm

TQ bits turned up, servo mount is really nice, also excited to try the car with roll bars. Just need my ballcups now.

My TQ order with the steering servo mount and a few other parts arrived today. I had my front lower bumper shatter last Sunday before my club races even started. I had to place TQ order #2 and grabbed the alloy motor mount too.

Here are detailed photos of my Spec-R R1. Here I give a little insight on the car for people hanging on the fence. Right out of the box the R1 can perform just as good as any other touring car out on the market. When people ask me about this car I tell them it has some of the best attributes of the other cars on the market all wrapped up in one. It's simple design makes set up for it very easy. I don't have to over think with the car to get the results I need. Some of the hop up items I did get for it right away to help the car even more with performance was an additional Gear Diff $32 for the front (since it comes with a Spool and 1 Gear Diff with the kit, the additional Gear Diff helps on settling the car down in technical tracks, when I'm on a faster and more open track I just drop the Spool in), The Spec-R DCJ set $39.99 ( Opposed to paying $80 a set for other cars) helps with front end chattering when making turns, I also decided using Tamiya Low Friction Ball Cups instead of the Spec R ones, the ones that came with the kit kept popping off the ball when making adjustments on the set up board. At $316 out the door it's affordable compared to other kits out there on the market as well as parts and hop up parts are in expensive as well. The can be purchased and at TQ RC Raceway online and he has all the parts fully stocked.
